Position: Facilities Engineer (Industrial) and Maintenance Supervisor

Toray Performance Materials Corporation (TPMC) is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Facilities Engineer and Maintenance Supervisor to lead and perform maintenance and facility operations. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining electrical systems, production equipment, and building infrastructure while supervising the maintenance team.

Position Overview:

The Facilities Engineer & Maintenance Supervisor is a hands-on working leader responsible for performing and supervising maintenance, facility operations, and capital project execution. This role requires direct involvement in troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of production equipment, utilities, and building systems.

In addition to leading the maintenance team, this position actively performs mechanical, electrical, and facilities work, ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe and compliant operating environment. The role also manages capital and non-capital projects, ensuring execution meets safety, schedule, budget, and design requirements.

Major Duties and Requirements

  • Hands-On Maintenance & Technical Execution (Primary Focus)
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and facility systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex equipment failures, including emergency breakdowns.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities, including inspections and system testing.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and modification of production equipment and facility systems.
  • Perform electrical and controls troubleshooting (PLC/HMI) as needed.
  • Assist with fabrication, equipment modifications, and minor engineering changes.
  • Maintain equipment and facilities in a safe, clean, and operational condition.


Maintenance Supervision & Operations
  • Lead by example as a working supervisor, actively participating in daily maintenance activities alongside technicians.
  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance technicians to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Assign, prioritize, and monitor daily work orders based on operational needs.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and downtime response activities.
  • Oversee maintenance programs including preventive maintenance, inspections, and root cause analysis.
  • Partner with production to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance.


Facilities Engineering & Projects
  • Plan and execute capital and non-capital projects including scope, cost estimation, and timelines.
  • Participate directly in project execution, including installation, testing, and startup activities.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet design intent.
  • Develop and implement improvements to equipment, systems, and facility infrastructure.
  • Provide engineering support including basic CAD drawings, specifications, and modifications.


Team Leadership & Development
  • Train and mentor maintenance staff through hands-on coaching and knowledge transfer.
  • Develop team technical capabilities in troubleshooting, maintenance procedures, and safety practices.
  • Lead by example in safety, work quality, and accountability.
  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and overtime requirements as needed.


Facilities & Vendor Management
  • Maintain facility systems including utilities, HVAC, and infrastructure.
  • Perform and oversee facility repairs and upgrades.
  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors while also supporting work execution as needed.
  • Maintain PM System data, equipment records, and maintenance documentation.


Compliance, Safety & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with EHS to maintain training and safe work practices.
  • Actively participate in safety inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Identify and implement cost savings and reliability improvements.
  • Support KPIs related to uptime, maintenance effectiveness, and cost control.


Travel
  • Up to 5-10% mostly domestic


Experience, Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field strongly preferred; Associate's degree or equivalent hands-on experience required.
  • 3-5+ years of hands-on maintenance and/or facilities engineering experience, in manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting work independently.
  • Prior experience leading or supervising maintenance teams in a working capacity.
  • Knowledge of industrial maintenance practices including electrical, mechanical, and controls systems.
  • Experience with project execution and facility improvements.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration across functions

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings.

Compensation: A competitive compensation package including base salary, potential for bonus based on performance, health insurance, and 401k will be available to the qualified applicant.

Salary Information

$83,873 - $111,831

The pay range above represents the expected offer range for the position. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to internal equity.
