Job Summary/Description:
Are you a sports visionary who knows that being "first" is only half the battle? Arizona's Family is looking for a high-energy, contemporary Sports Executive Producer who understands that in today's world, relevance is everything. We aren't looking for a traditional "TV person" - we need an audience-first, screen-agnostic leader who treats a smartphone screen with the same urgency as a 65-inch 4K TV. You'll be the architect of a sports brand that Arizonans can't live without, leveraging powerhouse pro partnerships while hosting your own daily streaming show. If you're ready to lead the conversation-and be the face of it-on every platform that matters, let's get to work.
Duties/Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
What You'll Do:
• Lead the sports narrative: Oversee the creation, planning, and daily delivery of live and multi-platform sports content that feels urgent, essential, and tailored for wherever the audience is watching.
• Host your own show: Step in front of the camera as the host of our daily sports streaming show, driving high-energy segments that bridge the gap between traditional broadcast and digital-first fans.
• Own the digital space: Collaborate daily with our digital team to ensure our sports coverage isn't just "on" social media, but actively driving the conversation and engagement there.
• Leverage pro partnerships: Maximize our exclusive access and partnerships with professional teams to deliver content and "inside-the-huddle" access our competitors simply can't match.
• Champion youth athletes: Develop a strategy to highlight local high school and youth sports, making Arizona's Family the undisputed home for the stories that matter to local families.
• Inspire and coach: Lead a team of producers, reporters, and anchors with a focus on "buy-in," providing consistent feedback and monthly reviews to keep the storytelling bar high.
• Evolve the content: Analyze the totality of our news blocks to ensure stories evolve across platforms and repetition is eliminated-keeping our audience engaged from the first whistle to the final buzzer.
• Drive breaking news: Be the aggressive voice in the room when sports news breaks, ensuring we are the most accurate and fastest source across all digital and broadcast platforms.
What You Bring:
• Screen-agnostic leadership: You don't care which screen the audience uses, as long as they are watching us. You understand how to pivot content seamlessly between social, streaming, and broadcast.
• On-air charisma: You're a natural communicator who is comfortable hosting a daily show, bringing personality and expertise to a digital-first audience.
• Visionary mindset: You don't just manage a schedule; you inspire a team to pursue impactful, balanced, and highly promotable stories that cut through the noise.
• Killer news judgment: You know what's a "must-see" and what's just filler, and you have the script-approval chops to ensure every word counts.
• Strategic thinking: You're focused on improving the product and raising ratings while smartly managing resources and overtime.
• Creative spark: You're constantly mining social media and viewer submissions for the next great story idea or viral moment.
• Relentless energy: You thrive in the fast-paced world of sports and are ready to jump into the weekend on-call rotation to own the big moments.
• Collaborative spirit: You work seamlessly with the News Director, Digital Director, and Managing Editor to implement winning, multi-platform strategies.
Why You'll Love It Here:
• Unrivaled access: You'll be working with some of the biggest names and teams in professional sports in a top-tier market.
• A platform of your own: Not many EP roles come with a daily hosting gig-this is your chance to build your personal brand alongside a powerhouse media company.
• Community connection: You'll have the platform to celebrate local kids and athletes, making a real impact on Arizona families every single day.
• Innovation-first culture: We aren't afraid to try new things-if you have a bold idea for a digital sports show or a social campaign, this is the place to launch it.
• A winning team: Join a group of passionate journalists who are as competitive about great storytelling as the athletes they cover.
Ready to lead the best sports team in the Valley and host the show everyone is talking about? Let's create something extraordinary together.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor's in Journalism
• Experience: 5 years of experience as an Executive Producer or Senior Producer in television news
