JOB TITLE: Executive Producer of Investigations
Vibe: Driven, strategic, organized, and obsessed with high-impact journalism across every platform.
The Mission FOX6 Milwaukee is looking for a detail-oriented, creative, high-caliber journalist to lead our investigative team and our Contact 6 consumer advocacy unit. We need an Executive Producer who can manage major investigative projects, oversee our investigative podcast, and reimagine how deep-dive stories reach modern audiences on streaming, digital, and broadcast.
This isn't a role spent sitting in an office waiting for project updates. We need a hands-on leader who is in the middle of our daily news operation—working alongside reporters and producers every day to bring investigative thinking, public records digging, and relentless follow-up into our everyday coverage. You'll lead with curiosity, courage, accountability, and empathy while coaching journalists to move beyond traditional package formats, guiding the team through complex ethical calls, and lifting the investigative standards across the entire newsroom.
Clear communication is essential in this position. Beyond being organized, you must proactively connect employees across all departments so everyone clearly understands available elements, expectations, and deadlines needed to deliver a seamless, high-quality product.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and inspire seasoned investigative journalists to conceive, execute, and deliver multi-platform investigative projects and consumer advocacy coverage.
- Work directly with daily news reporters and producers to bring an investigative lens, public records strategies, and deeper context into daily enterprise reporting.
- Collaborate with news managers to build a high-trust newsroom culture through open communication and clear feedback.
- Keep momentum going on major stories across all platforms.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on complex journalistic ethics, legal vetting, public records requests, and investigative standards.
- Work across departments to drive new strategies for distributing investigative work beyond packageable content.
What You Bring
- Proven track record producing or managing investigative journalism, enterprise reporting, or long-form investigative units.
- Sharp project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple initiatives, keep cross-department teams aligned, and keep long-term investigations on schedule while staying involved in daily newsroom needs.
- Ability to coach journalists past standard TV package formats into dynamic visual storytelling built for modern audiences.
- Clear strategy for distributing investigative work across streaming, digital video, podcast, and social media platforms.
- Strong command of legal standards, FOIA/public records laws, libel law, and ethical newsgathering techniques.
- Experience using modern newsroom production software, with the adaptability to quickly master our station's specific workflow tools.
