Executive Director

Brazos Valley Food Bank | Bryan, Texas

The Executive Director provides visionary and operational leadership for the organization's strategy, programs, operations, finances, development, advocacy, and community engagement. As the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, the ED translates strategy into action, supports effective governance, and ensures organizational accountability and sustainability. The ED also serves as BVFB's chief culture leader, fostering a high-performing workplace grounded in adaptability, belonging, boldness, empathy, integrity, partnership, and radical hospitality.

The successful candidate will be a visible and collaborative leader who can inspire staff, engage donors and volunteers, build strong community partnerships, communicate effectively with diverse audiences, and navigate a changing food-insecurity landscape. The ED will champion strategic growth while ensuring sound financial stewardship, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, strong Board partnership, and measurable community impact.

Qualifications & Core Competencies

BVFB is seeking a leader who brings:

Experience & Education: a minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector, with demonstrated experience working with a Board of Directors. Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to lead organizational strategy, drive execution, manage change, and foster continuous improvement based on data and community needs.
Fundraising & Financial Stewardship: Track record of supporting fundraising efforts, managing budgets, and ensuring responsible resource allocation.
Relationship & Stakeholder Engagement: Skilled in building and maintaining strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including Board members, donors, partners, volunteers, and community leaders.
Communication & Public Presence: Exceptional written, verbal, and public speaking skills, with the ability to effectively represent and advocate for the organization.
Mission Alignment: Deep commitment to addressing food insecurity and advancing community impact.
Learning & Adaptability: Demonstrates learning agility, openness to feedback, and commitment to best practices and innovation.
Technical & Operational Acumen: Proficiency with standard business technologies and ability to navigate operational, compliance, and policy environments.
Sector Engagement: Active participation in relevant networks (e.g., Feeding America, Feeding Texas) to strengthen impact and collaboration.
Additional Requirements: Flexibility to support organizational needs (including occasional evenings/weekends and disaster response), valid driver's license, and successful completion of background check; ability to meet the physical and travel demands of the role.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $100,000-$125,000
