Twilio is an innovation-driven company on a transformative journey, and we are seeking an executive communications director to be the trusted communications partner for Twilio's Chief Product & Technology Officer In this highly visible and strategic role, you will craft and drive impactful messaging that elevates the CPTO's voice across internal and external audiences, reinforcing Twilio's vision, product strategy, and leadership in the industry. You will also selectively support the R&D organization and leadership team on various initiatives to share Twilio's innovation story, both internally and externally.

This role sits within Twilio's corporate communications team, responsible for shaping and delivering Twilio's story across investors, press, customers, industry analysts, and employees. You will develop executive-level content and thought leadership, manage internal and external communications, and support change management initiatives to ensure clarity, alignment, and engagement across Twilio's R&D organization and beyond.

Responsibilities

In this role, you'll:
  • Iterate and execute an annual executive communications strategy and plan that positions the Chief Product & Technology Officer as the transformative leader behind Twilio's innovation story.
  • Take the pen on all content coming from Twilio's CPTO including keynotes, internal presentations, blogs, press and social media.
  • Partner with PMM and CorpComms on impactful, forward-thinking communications that tell Twilio's innovation story from various R&D leaders
  • Propose opportunities and concepts for thought leadership to elevate Twilio's R&D leadership's visibility in the market
  • Develop content to represent R&D at quarterly Company All Hands meetings and other key internal companywide meetings
  • Drive communications for ongoing change management initiatives within the R&D function
  • Develop content for R&D function-level communications and events that supports Twilio's unique Builder culture.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners to inform CPTO communications strategy including Twilio's Management Team, R&D Leadership, Corporate Communications, Product Marketing, and more.

*Required:
  • 10+ years experience in communications, including a minimum 3 years in a dedicated executive communications role
  • 5+ years in the tech industry

Desired:
  • Experience writing for, working directly with and influencing CEOs, C-level executives, and SVPs
  • Strong executive presence and ability to advise on communications strategy to all levels of the organization
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively across R&D, GTM, Marketing, HR, PR, and Internal Comms teams
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong business acumen with exemplary editing and writing skills
  • Experience in external-facing thought leadership (blogs, event keynotes, social media)
    Proficiency in creating slide desks for large audience presentations
  • Strong ability to synthesize complex topics (AI, data, product strategy) into compelling, digestible content for diverse audiences
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with the ability to craft clear, engaging, and strategic messaging for executive leaders.

Location

This role will be remote and based in the West Coast, USA.

Travel

We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other. For this role, approximately 25% travel is anticipated to help you connect in-person in a meaningful way.

Compensation

*Please note this role is open to candidates outside of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington D.C., and Washington State. The information below is provided for candidates hired in those locations only.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
  • Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : $171,120 - $213,900.
  • Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $181,200 - $226,500.
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $201,280 - $251,600.
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
