About the Role

Horizon Land Company is seeking an Executive Business Partner / Chief of Staff reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This role sits at the intersection of executive leverage, business operations, and project management - part chief of staff, part senior executive partner - designed for someone who thrives on structure, visual communication, and keeping high-level initiatives moving on schedule.

Acting as a direct extension of the CFO, you will support priorities across Accounting, Financial Reporting, HR, Property Management, Legal, and Asset Management. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable operating in a fast-paced executive environment, and confident enough to hold department heads and senior leaders accountable to deadlines and commitments without hesitation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Executive Extension & Partnership: Serve as a strategic partner and operational extension of the CFO, managing executive priorities, meeting preparation, and competing demands to maximize executive leverage.
  • Operational Proxy in Cross-Functional Check-ins: Act as an operational proxy for the CFO in cross-functional check-ins, running down project updates, identifying bottlenecks, and keeping multi-departmental initiatives on schedule across Accounting, Financial Reporting, HR, Property Management, Legal, and Asset Management.
  • Visual Communications & Roadmaps: Partner closely with the CFO to prepare executive-level visual dashboards, roadmaps, and companywide milestone updates to clearly communicate project status and progress across all teams.
  • Project Management & Tracking: Track cross-functional initiatives from kickoff to completion, building and maintaining real-time schedules, timelines, and Gantt charts on Monday.com.
  • Meeting Follow-Through & Accountability: Attend key operational meetings with or on behalf of the CFO; capture critical decisions, document action items, and proactively drive accountability across department heads to completion.
  • Process, SOPs & AI Enablement: Support the development, documentation, and continuous improvement of internal operating procedures, leveraging AI tools (Claude) to streamline workflow and process documentation.
  • Special Projects & Executive Problem Solving: Handle high-priority special projects, research, and operational triage on behalf of the CFO as new business needs arise.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 7+ years of experience in executive business partnership, chief of staff, business operations, or project management - ideally supporting C-suite or senior executives.
  • Demonstrated project management expertise, including building project plans, milestone tracking, and managing multiple active workstreams.
  • Advanced proficiency with Monday.com (building boards, Gantt views, and executive dashboards) and strong presentation skills (PowerPoint / visual reporting tools).
  • Comfort leveraging Claude to accelerate process documentation, drafting, and workflow analysis.
  • A confident, direct communication style - able to hold senior leaders and department heads accountable to commitments with professional poise.
  • High discretion, emotional intelligence, and experience managing confidential executive and financial information.
  • Self-directed, proactive, and adept at anticipating executive needs in a dynamic corporate environment.
