Full Job Description
The Environmental Services Manager (EVS) oversees the daily operation of the EVS department, to include the cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing of surfaces in all hospital buildings. This position is responsible for providing direct supervision over EVS Technicians, assigning work, developing staff schedules, addressing patient and visitor requests, ensuring the completion of work to the standard, and ensuring excellence in maintaining a clean, safe, orderly, and attractive patient care environment.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years' experience working in hospital/long-term care facility/or medical office preferred.
  • Leadership and/or managerial experience in a position of similar responsibility and complexity preferred.
  • Experience and/or training in computer applications, including Electronic Health Record Software preferred.
  • American Hospital Association certifications in Environmental Services management or equivalent preferred

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manager develops, implements, integrates, monitors, and manages a comprehensive environmental and janitorial program for the hospital and hospital owned physician clinics and properties, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and federal/state requirements.
  • Collaborates with Infection Prevention/Control Practitioner to develop, implement and evaluate cleaning practices and products related to prevention and control of infections in patient care settings.
  • Supervises and evaluates Environmental Services staff, promoting teamwork, professional growth and accountability.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, coaching and discipline. Performs orientation and annual performance evaluations of all Environmental Services staff.
  • Plans daily work schedules and assignments to meet hospital and clinic needs. Works with staff on the floor as needed.
  • Monitors department productivity and operating budget performance.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the hospital bed tracking system (Electronic Health Record software) and ensures response times are met.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds with frequent lifting/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently.
  • Needs to be able to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
  • Requires frequent use of computer.
  • Must demonstrate manual dexterity.
  • Occasional exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue, communicable diseases, chemicals, including but not limited to sticks or cuts by needles and other sharp items. Employee eligible for Hepatitis B Vaccination if desired.

Compensation

$35.10- $48.38 DOE
