EverPro - Senior Web Engineer

EverPro -Sr. Web Engineer– REMOTE (Canada) 

We are looking for a Sr. Web Engineer to focus on our Joist product. Joist, an EverCommerce solution group and member of the EverPro suite of products, is an end to end vertical software platform for small & medium-sized trades contractors. We have a simple mission: Make Contractors Heroes. Joist provides web and mobile applications for small business contractors to estimate, invoice, record, and process payments, and manage projects from anywhere. From humble beginnings, we're now helping over 1 million contractors across North America, the UK, and Australia, making us one of the largest trades platforms in the world, and we have major growth planned! 

Responsibilities: 

You will contribute to solutions from inception to deployment, and everything in between. The solutions you and your team build must not only work for Joist today but also support rapid iteration and innovation as we grow. Your work will be nothing less than redefining the home renovation industry. The key aspects of this role include:  

Innovate and Develop: Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code for our Web client-side applications. 

Collaborate: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers and designers, to define, design, and ship new features.  

Maintain Code Quality: You write clean, maintainable code and participate actively in code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback effectively. 

Drive Technical Excellence: Identify bottlenecks and bugs, devise solutions to address and mitigate these issues, and document your work thoughtfully to share knowledge with teammates. 

Autonomous Execution — You've done this before. You can pick up an existing codebase, understand its patterns, and start contributing meaningful work within the first couple of weeks. You ask good questions and know when to seek clarification.  

Expanding Your Scope: A willingness to broaden your development experience, potentially culminating in contributing to other platforms. 

Skills and Experience needed for success in this role: 

• 7+ years of experience developing frontend applications using JavaScript (ideally React)  

• Strong JavaScript fundamentals, including common data structures  

• Proficiency in semantic HTML and CSS, including preprocessors such as Sass  

• Experience with component libraries or UI frameworks such as Material UI  

• Experience with unit and component testing using tools such as Jest, or React Testing Library  

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Product, Design, and Engineering  

• Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned work, and deliver high-quality solutions 

• Experience leveraging LLM tooling like Claude or ChatGPT to assist you in your work 

Bonus Skills and Experience for this role: 

• Experience with state management libraries such as Redux or Redux Toolkit  

• Experience with TypeScript   

• Experience with component development tools such as Storybook  

• Familiarity with Figma  

• Experience with Playwright for integration and end-to-end testing  

• Some backend or full-stack development experience 

Where: [Remote worker based in Canada (Joist head office is in Toronto), no travel requirements as a part of the role] 
The EverCommerce team is distributed globally, with teams in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., New Zealand, and Australia. With a widely distributed team, we are used to working remotely across different time zones. This role can be based anywhere in the Canada – if you’re close to one of our offices, we can set you up in-office or you can work 100% remotely. Please note that you must be eligible to work without sponsorship to qualify for this position, and this role may require travel to our Corporate Headquarters in Denver, Colorado, or to other office locations around North America.

Compensation: The target base compensation for this position is $120,000 to $150,000 CAD per year in most Canada locations. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including location, local market variances, and candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
