The Mechanical Engineer located in
St. John's, NL is responsible for providing operations support, rapid response engineering, and leadership in failure investigations. This role focuses on troubleshooting equipment issues, performing mechanical calculations, and delivering practical engineering solutions to enhance equipment functionality. The engineer will generate redline and conversion drawings, and create new equipment part numbers or revisions quickly to support urgent needs-prioritizing minimal design effort to enable fast, straightforward updates.
The role also contributes to developing aftermarket engineering tools, jigs, and fixtures to support equipment disassembly, and may occasionally support frame/skid design or modification. Offshore travel is not a routine requirement; however, the engineer should maintain readiness for potential offshore assignments to strengthen operational awareness and support learning. Travel may include domestic locations (e.g., Louisiana, Alaska) and international destinations (e.g., Romania, Trinidad) for team building and project support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Mechanical or Naval Architecture Engineering degree.
- Proficiency in mechanical calculations and practical problem-solving for equipment performance and reliability.
- Troubleshooting & mechanical calculations
- Redline/conversion drawings for equipment improvements
- Create new part numbers and deliver rapid revisions (minimal design changes).
- Develop tools/jigs/fixtures for disassembly; frame/skid design/mods a plus.
