Estimator - Power Infrastructure (Heavy Civil Preferred) No remote Options
Location: Prineville, OR (In-Person)
Company: R-2 Contractors
Compensation: $100,000 - $185,000 annually + benefits
THE ROLE
We are hiring an Estimator who can build accurate, thoughtful, and complete estimates that set projects up for success before they ever break ground.
This role goes beyond putting numbers on a page. You will be expected to think critically, identify risk, stay detail-oriented, and develop clear, dependable estimates in a fast-moving environment.
You will work across teams to align scope, assumptions, and priorities while helping strengthen how we estimate, communicate, and manage a demanding bid workload.
Some bids will be straightforward, but many will not. Success in this role requires flexibility, sound judgment under pressure, and the ability to keep moving forward when timelines are tight.
You will do well here if you:
• Stay ahead of problems instead of reacting to them
• Ask questions early and often
• Take ownership of outcomes
• Work within our current structure and help improve it over time
• Bring suggestions and solutions, not just criticism
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, and bid documents
• Build complete estimates for civil, foundation, and underground scopes on power infrastructure projects
• Perform quantity takeoffs for grading, excavation, concrete, trenching, conduit, and grounding work
• Work with vendors and subcontractors to develop accurate pricing
• Identify gaps, risks, and assumptions before bids are submitted
• Help improve estimating tools, processes, and project handoffs as the company grows
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Key Traits:
• Ownership mindset - You stand behind your work
• Curiosity - You want to understand how the work is built
• Initiative - You do not wait to be told what to do
• Adaptability - You are willing to adjust how you think
• Strong communication - You work well across teams
• Humility - Confident but open to better ways
• Problem-solving mindset - You help move things forward
Experience:
• 5 + years in heavy civil power infrastructure utility scale, estimating, or a related field (flexible for the right person)
• Civil, utility, or power industry experience is a strong plus
• Ability to read plans and think through construction sequencing
• A degree is required. We care just as much about sound judgment, attention to detail, adaptability, and how you approach the work.
You do not need to come from a perfect system, and neither do we. We value people who can do strong work, adapt, and help us continue getting better.
WHAT SETS YOU APART
• You've caught something others missed before it became a problem
• You understand how work gets built, not just how it gets priced
• You've improved a process instead of only working within one
WHY JOIN US
• Work on meaningful infrastructure projects in the energy sector
• Be part of a team that values initiative and accountability
• Have a direct impact on the work we win and execute
• Join a company that is growing and improving every day
COMPENSATION
$100,000 - $185,000 annually, based on demonstrated ability and overall fit for the role.
At the lower end of the range, you may still be building your estimating experience. At the higher end, you can manage a demanding bid workload, think critically under tight deadlines, and consistently produce thorough, reliable work.
