Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Civil Estimator IV for a site-based position at the Bagdad Mine project site in Bagdad, Arizona. This position performs work directly related to the management and general business operations of the organization or functional area. The role requires advanced knowledge gained through specialized education, extensive experience, and professional expertise. It involves the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance and provides independent assessment of civil construction progress, quantities, contractor pricing, and change impacts to improve cost visibility, forecasting accuracy, and commercial decision-making.
Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating and Cost Validation- Prepare independent estimates for earthworks, structural concrete, underground utilities, drainage, roads, and infrastructure scopes.
- Develop estimates using labor productivity, equipment rates, material pricing, subcontractor inputs, and project conditions.
- Support forecasting, contingency evaluations, risk analysis, and estimate-at-completion reviews.
- Benchmark contractor proposals against project estimates, historical data, and market information.
Change Management- Evaluate contractor change requests and validate scope, quantities, productivity assumptions, labor, equipment, and indirect costs.
- Develop independent estimates for changes, trends, claims, and commercial negotiations.
- Quantify impacts from engineering revisions, field changes, and evolving project requirements.
- Maintain clear estimate assumptions, exclusions, and supporting documentation.
Progress and Quantity Verification- Verify installed quantities and earned progress against contractor reports, payment applications, and field records.
- Participate in quantity verification, joint measurements, and progress assessments.
- Reconcile reported progress with actual installed work and identify variances.
- Support development of quantity tracking and progress measurement systems.
Commercial and Project Controls Integration- Support cost forecasting, trend management, committed cost validation, and contingency monitoring.
- Provide estimating input to project stabilization, execution improvement, risk mitigation, and recovery planning initiatives.
- Prepare concise analyses highlighting cost impacts, risks, assumptions, and recommended actions.
- Ensure alignment between estimates, schedules, contracts, cost systems, and change-management processes.
Construction and Engineering Interface- Review drawings, specifications, design changes, field instructions, and work packages to determine cost and quantity impacts.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Construction teams to validate scope, constructability, sequencing, and execution assumptions.
- Identify quantity growth, scope gaps, omissions, and commercial risks before they impact project performance.
- Other related duties may be assigned.
Basic Job Requirements- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience.
- 10 or more years of estimating experience on large mining, heavy civil, industrial, infrastructure, or EPC/EPCM projects.
- Experience estimating earthworks, mass excavation, embankments, structural concrete, underground services, roads, drainage, and site infrastructure.
- Experience evaluating contractor change orders, claims, productivity assumptions, and construction methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of quantity take-offs, progress measurement, cost control, forecasting, and estimate reconciliation.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, commercial documents, and field records.
- Advanced spreadsheet and estimating software skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a site-based, multi-contractor environment.
Other Job Requirements- Provide independent estimating and commercial validation by verifying quantities, progress, contractor pricing, productivity assumptions, scope definitions, and change impacts. Improve forecast accuracy, cost visibility, and risk transparency while supporting effective project execution and decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with Tailings Storage Facilities, water-management infrastructure, or large mining earthworks.
- Experience supporting owner-managed construction programs or brownfield operations.
- Experience with project stabilization, recovery planning, or execution-improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of quantity surveying practices, Rules of Credit, earned progress, and time-and-material validation.
- Professional certification in estimating, quantity surveying, engineering, cost engineering, or project controls.
- Strong commercial judgment, analytical rigor, and field-based estimating expertise with the ability to communicate clear, well-supported recommendations to project stakeholders.

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate's qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
Salary Range: $103,500.00 - $191,500.00
