Company Profile:

With over 40 years of experience, Seamair Construction provides engineering and related construction services to commercial and government customers. Seamair Construction started as a small family business and evolved into a well-regarded mid-sized construction focused on civil engineering, environmental remediation, design-build and general contracting services.

Job Summary:

The Civil Construction Estimator will create, calculate and prepare precise estimates and bids for civil engineering, architectural and structural commercial and public sector projects. The ideal candidate will assume responsibility for deciding the projected time frame needed to complete a project and additional factors such as labor needs, materials, budgets and potential setbacks, while communicating with internal personnel, sub-contractors, or vendors, using computer software to weigh production risks or compile reports.

Duties / Responsibilities:

Identify opportunities for bids;

Analyze and gather estimate data affecting labor costs, materials, equipment needs, location, risk analysis and other aspects, to ensure high-quality and timely estimates are produced;

Evaluate planned project site conditions, drawings and specifications, while noting findings and obtaining field operations feedback in finalizing project bid/estimates;

Evaluate all options and construction techniques in creating the most competitive bids/estimates;

Perform analytically complex mathematical procedures to ensure all expenses are included in the bid/estimate and accurate;

Ensure that field operations understand nature of the work and accurately communicate estimate bid information during pre-construction meetings;

Collaborate with project managers to acquire materials as needed and with project managers and other relevant team members to visit project sites;

Participate in weekly office staff meetings.

Qualifications:

3 - 5 years of relevant experience as an Estimator within a civil construction environment;

Prior civil and general contracting experience, a plus;

Working knowledge of civil engineering and construction principles;

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and related documentation;

Proficiency with MS Office suite of products to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint;

Experience with Earthworks software, a plus;

Astute oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;

Exceptional mathematical, analytical, time management, organizational, attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, problem-solving, critical thinking, follow through and customer service skills;

Ability to work effectively alone and within a cohesive team environment;

Valid driver's license, clean and insurable record;

Ability to pass a drug screen;

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds in weight;

Ability to walk on uneven surfaces regularly.

Compensation:

$110,000 - $140,000 for this full-time exempt position.

Benefits:

80 hours annually of paid vacation time, accrued at a rate of 1.54 weekly;

40 hours of paid sick time allotted after 60 days of employment;

Medical, dental, vision paid 100% for employee;

401(K) with an annual company match up to 4% after 1 year of employment;

Company vehicle provided.

Working Hours:

8:00AM - 5:00PM Monday - Friday

Location:

On-site in San Luis Obispo and various client sites in the western U.S.
