Estimator - Site Civil Construction

Trueline is seeking an Estimator - Site Civil Construction to join their onsite team in Sarasota, Florida. This is a long-term succession opportunity for an early-career civil construction professional who wants to sharpen their estimating skills, gain increasing project management responsibility, and grow into future estimating and company leadership.

What You'll Do as the Estimator - Site Civil Construction:
  • Review civil plans, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, underground utilities, drainage, roadway, base, subgrade, and related sitework scopes
  • Develop labor, equipment, material, and production assumptions
  • Build and support complete project estimates and bid packages
  • Use historical production data to improve estimating accuracy
  • Participate in internal estimate-review meetings before bid submission
  • Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, and project risks
  • Coordinate with owners, developers, engineers, vendors, and internal operations teams
  • Work closely with field leadership to understand actual production and job performance
  • Support project handoff from estimating into operations
  • Participate in weekly project-review meetings with Estimating, Project Management, and Operations
  • Learn and apply company estimating standards and best practices
  • Gradually take on Project Management responsibilities as your experience grows
  • Help support a strong pipeline of private development and municipal civil work


Must-Haves as the Estimator - Site Civil Construction:
  • Approximately 2-5 years of relevant civil construction experience
  • Experience in heavy civil, site development, earthwork, underground utilities, or related scopes
  • Strong understanding of how civil construction projects are built in the field
  • Ability to read civil construction plans and specifications
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with engineers, owners, developers, and internal teams
