Job Description

We are seeking an EH&S Manager to lead the Environmental, Health & Safety programs at our Rome facility. This position is responsible for promoting a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), and other applicable regulations while driving continuous improvement in environmental, health, and safety performance. The EH&S Manager will partner with plant leadership, Corporate EH&S, and regulatory agencies to maintain compliance, manage EH&S systems, lead training, investigate incidents, and support a strong safety culture throughout the facility.

Pay:
  • $68,000-$100,000
  • Pay based on performance

Responsibilities

Safety Leadership
  • Partner with plant leadership to promote a strong safety culture through employee engagement, hazard recognition, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach leaders on safety expectations, accountability, and best practices.
  • Encourage near-miss reporting, hazard identification, and timely corrective actions.

EH&S Systems & Compliance
  • Manage and maintain EH&S systems, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Cority and 3E Online.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NYS DEC, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies, including OSHA, EPA, and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).
  • Maintain environmental permits, injury records, written programs, and required regulatory reports.
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene monitoring, audiometric testing, inspections, and environmental compliance activities.
  • Lead internal, external, regulatory, and insurance related EH&S audits.

Training
  • Develop and deliver EH&S training for new and existing employees.
  • Ensure all required regulatory, company, and site-specific training is completed.
  • Risk Management
  • Lead Safety Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (SFMEA) and other risk assessments.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce risk through engineering controls, safe work practices, and proper PPE.


Communication & Incident Management
  • Lead the EH&S Committee and communicate safety performance across the facility.
  • Manage incident investigations, determine root causes, and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Complete required incident reporting and coordinate with regulatory agencies when necessary.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Lead EH&S improvement initiatives that enhance safety, compliance, and operational performance.
  • Manage contractor safety, vendor approvals, and insurance compliance.
  • Support cost reduction and continuous improvement projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of EH&S experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and New York State DEC regulations.
  • Experience with environmental permits, audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ability to develop and deliver safety training.
  • Experience leading safety committees and promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Ability to work with regulatory agencies, including OSHA, EPA, and NYS DEC.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • CSP, ASP, or other EH&S certifications are a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear required PPE.
