Overview

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) continues to grow and expand.  We have an excellent opportunity for an Environmental Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager I to augment our established Environmental Practice in our Pittsburgh, PA Headquarters office. You'll be a key part of project teams working to navigate today's environmental regulatory landscape. You'll be responsible for performing and managing project work to provide a variety of environmental services to our clients, such as Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, subsurface investigations, UST closures, and soil management plans.   Working with clients, contractors, and lenders, you will have the opportunity to impact the project lifecycle - from development of conceptual approach, through due diligence for liability protection and financing, and ultimately to the construction monitoring phase of the project.  In this role, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and technical specialists while building client relationships and managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets. As your experience grows, you'll take on increasing technical, client-facing, and leadership responsibilities, providing a clear path for professional growth and long-term career advancement. You will also have the opportunity to be cross trained to complete construction progress monitoring inspections for financial lender clients as part of lending policy requirements.  Periodic regional travel will be required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field  
  • The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of professional experience, including conducting PHASE I AND II ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENTS; ASTM E1527-21 training a plus.
  • Practical experience with writing environmental site assessment reports including the ability to interpret data, communicate findings from site assessment activities and develop recommendations relevant to project objectives
  • Familiarity with Pennsylvania’s Act 2 Program and Pennsylvania’s Management of Fill Policy a plus 
  • Experience collecting environmental samples (soil, groundwater, sediment, and air), reviewing laboratory analytical reports, and preparing summary reports
  • Working knowledge of general building construction and experience and comfort with working on construction sites around heavy equipment a plus
  • Strong professional communication, organizational, time management, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple aspects of projects independently and simultaneously, while adhering to project schedules and budgetary requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project) is preferred
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training a plus
  • Business development and client interactions skills, or desire to grow in this area
  • Experience working within client-mandated safety protocols
  • Ability to travel for work-related business
