Overview

We are seeking an Environmental Geologist or Environmental Engineer to join our Richmond, VA office. The successful candidate will work on a wide range of environmental projects in team support. Job assignments will include, but not be limited to:

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and conduct environmental project activities in the field and office.
  • Perform and supervise soil and groundwater site assessments.
  • Manage soil and groundwater cleanup activities.
  • Oversee quality control and decontamination procedures during field work.
  • Document closure of sites under various state and federal regulations.
  • Perform risk and exposure pathway assessments.
  • Develop conceptual site models of subsurface conditions.
  • Prepare technical reports, project specifications, and operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and contracting documents.
  • Manage and track project budgets.
  • Perform data management and develop written presentations of data.
  • Assist with mentorship of junior-level staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum B.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Geoscience or B.S. in Environmental Engineering.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • At least 10-years of hands-on related work experience preferred.
  • Proven experience working in a collaborative environment and independently in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Experience reviewing, compiling and interpreting geologic data to prepare accurate site-models.
  • Knowledge of borehole logging using the Unified Soil Classification System.
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills.
  • Computer software proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat or Nitro Pro.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification preferred.
  • Ability to travel, including occasional overnight travel.
  • valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and motor vehicle records check.

Preferred Technical Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with Virginia Solid Waste Management Regulations (VSWMR).
  • Experience with Virginia Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (VPDES) Permits.
  • Experience preparing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Knowledge of the hydrological cycle and related quantitative analysis.
  • Understanding of soil and groundwater remediation (e.g., methods, chemistry).
  • Understanding of field work tasks such as soil sampling, groundwater sampling, borehole logging, well construction, soil-vapor sampling, soil and groundwater remediation, site reconnaissance, and subcontractor oversight.
  • Documented experience developing technical documents.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range

USD $103,688.00 - USD $115,000.00 /Yr.
