  • Conduct QA/QC by verifying design methodologies and outcomes.
  • Interpret multi-disciplinary drawings and respond to RFIs.
  • Conduct field inspections and surveys supporting design and construction.
  • Research and apply relevant code provisions to design tasks.
  • Evaluate design alternatives and document findings for project engineers.

Full Job Description
Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations and create construction cost estimates.
  • Work with senior engineers to create project designs for structures on or near the water (locks, dams, hydropower plants, water control gates, moorings, etc.).
  • Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc.
  • Interpret and understand drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects and respond to requests for information.
  • Conduct field inspections and surveys in support of design and construction efforts.
  • Research and apply code provisions to design.
  • Research design alternatives and document findings for project engineer/manager.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using own judgment.
  • Assist senior staff in the creation of proposals, client information, and designs.
  • Develop drawings while applying changes and corrections as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors' Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • EIT candidates preferred.
  • Interest in Structural Engineering projects especially on or near the water; prior experience preferred but not required.
  • CAD (AutoCAD, MicroStation) skills are a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Desire to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $73,900 to $86,500 per year (depending on qualifications)
