Job Summary
The Enterprise Principal Architect is a highly visible, hands-on technical leadership role responsible for the architectural integrity of core enterprise systems. The role provides technical direction across .NET, C#, Azure, Angular, and SQL Server platforms, serving as a technical authority for complex system design, critical production issues, performance challenges, modernization initiatives, and enterprise architecture standards. The position also provides technical mentorship and communicates architectural decisions and tradeoffs to engineering and executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and guide the architecture of complex, high-scale systems built on .NET/C#, Azure, Angular, and SQL Server.
• Serve as an escalation point and technical resource for complex production and performance issues across application teams.
• Conduct architecture and code-level reviews to ensure scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Define and evolve architectural standards, patterns, and reusable frameworks across development teams.
• Lead modernization initiatives including cloud migration, legacy system re-architecture, and microservices adoption.
• Assess enterprise-level risks related to platform stability, vendor dependencies, and technical debt.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends and recommend adoption where they provide business value.
• Partner with IT leadership on technology strategy and multi-year technology roadmaps.
• Mentor senior engineers and architects across development teams.
• Communicate technical designs, decisions, and tradeoffs effectively to engineering and executive audiences.
• Provide hands-on technical support through debugging, code reviews, architecture diagrams, and resolution of complex distributed-system issues.
• Establish and promote secure, scalable, and maintainable architecture practices across teams.
Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering and/or architecture.
• Deep, current expertise with .NET, C#, Angular, and SQL.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including App Services, Durable Functions, Azure Container services, Azure Service Bus, and Azure resources.
• Deep SQL Server expertise, including schema design, performance tuning, and query optimization.
• Strong understanding of OWASP security principles, Microsoft Entra ID, and JWT.
• Good understanding of DevOps and CI/CD practices.
• Proven experience designing and troubleshooting complex, distributed, and highly available systems.
• Ability to work at a deep technical level, including debugging, code review, and architecture design.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts and tradeoffs to executive audiences.
• Experience mentoring engineers and serving as a trusted technical authority across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with microservices and container technologies, including Kubernetes and AKS.
• Experience with modern frontend architecture and integration with .NET backend systems.
• Strong understanding of security fundamentals including identity, OAuth, encryption, and access controls.
• Deep understanding of software design patterns such as Saga, Singleton, and Façade.
• Experience operating in regulated or compliance-heavy environments.
• Understanding of AI tools and workflow automation.
Certifications
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
• TOGAF certification.
