This role requires associates to work out of a MVH North America hub location - New York, NY | Vancouver, WA | Santa Monica, CA | Tampa, FLWhy This Role Matters: The Enterprise Architecture Practice & Governance Lead is responsible for defining, operating, and continuously improving the Enterprise Architecture operating model for Mars Veterinary Health. This role ensures that architecture governance, technology standards, application portfolio management, and digital transformation practices enable delivery teams to move faster while maintaining alignment to enterprise strategy. The Lead serves as the steward of architecture governance, technology standards, portfolio transparency, and the Architecture Community of Practice, helping drive technology harmonization, rationalization, and measurable business outcomes across MVH.
You Will: - Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
Architecture Practice & Governance - Own the global architecture governance framework, including Architecture Review Boards (ARB), decision processes, design authorities, and architecture assurance activities.
- Define and evolve the EA engagement model, intake processes, service catalog, and operating procedures.
- Lead the Architecture Community of Practice across enterprise, solution, platform, data, and security architecture disciplines.
- Develop architecture methodologies, playbooks, and reusable assets.
- Promote architecture best practices and capability development across the broader technology organization.
- Establish and maintain architecture decision management processes and governance reporting.
Technology Standards & Reference Architecture - Own the lifecycle of enterprise technology standards, approved technologies, reference architectures, and reusable patterns.
- Facilitate evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies.
- Partner with domain architects to ensure standards remain practical, current, and aligned to business needs.
- Lead technology exception and waiver processes.
Application & Technology Rationalization - Serve as business owner for LeanIX and enterprise architecture repositories.
- Establish and maintain application portfolio management practices including lifecycle management, technical debt visibility, risk management, and rationalization.
- Drive portfolio transparency and support investment decisions using portfolio insights.
Transformation & Strategic Enablement - Partner with business and technology leaders to align transformation initiatives with enterprise architecture strategy.
- Support transformation planning through portfolio insights, technology roadmaps, and capability analysis.
- Enable harmonization of technologies, platforms, and applications across the MVH landscape.
- Provide architecture reporting and insights that support our digital strategy execution and strategic investment decisions.
Architecture Metrics & Value Realization - Define governance metrics and continuously improve governance effectiveness.
- Establish KPIs that demonstrate architecture effectiveness and business value.
- Measure governance throughput, standards adoption, portfolio health, rationalization outcomes, and technical debt reduction.
- Produce executive reporting demonstrating architecture contribution to business outcomes, technology simplification, and risk reduction.
Your Experience Should Include: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- Relevant architecture certifications (TOGAF, Zachman, PEAF, or equivalent architecture frameworks preferred.)
- Ten+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, Technology Strategy, IT Governance, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience establishing or maturing architecture governance, technology standards, application portfolio management practices, or architecture operating models within a complex enterprise environment.
- Experience with enterprise architecture repositories, portfolio management tools, and technology governance processes.
- Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and executive communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience implementing, administering, or enabling enterprise architecture, portfolio management, or governance platforms such as LeanIX, ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, or similar enterprise tooling.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives through influence and collaboration across business and technology stakeholders
Salary range: $162,162-$259,411
Compensation is determined based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and market competitiveness.
