Looking for your next challenge?  Enjoy solving complex business problems with today’s latest technologies?  REI Systems (REI) is looking for innovative Entreprise Solutions Architect to craft compelling and compliant cloud-based solutions for REI's clients. Working with REI’s FDA Account Management and REI’s Leadership, successful candidates will support REI's growth strategy, application modernization endeavors, while ensuring solution excellence for our customers. The position enables REI to provide best-in-class thought-leadership and support to our Accounts. It also contributes toward REI's long-term strategy to organically acquire and retain customers and talent while expanding and deepening our portfolio of offerings.

 

REI Systems is seeking a highly experienced Enterprise Architect to provide enterprise-level architecture leadership across complex Federal technology environments. The Enterprise Architect will establish target-state architectures, modernization roadmaps, architecture standards, and reusable technology patterns that align business capabilities, applications, data, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, integration, and emerging technologies.

This position requires a strategic technologist who can assess existing environments, define future-state architectures, rationalize technology portfolios, and ensure that individual programs and solutions align with broader enterprise objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain current-state, transition-state, and target-state enterprise architectures aligned with customer mission, business objectives, and technology strategy.
  • Define enterprise architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, reusable patterns, and technical guardrails.
  • Establish modernization roadmaps spanning applications, cloud, infrastructure, data, integration, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, AI, and emerging technologies.
  • Translate business capabilities and mission requirements into enterprise technology architectures.
  • Perform application and technology portfolio assessments to identify modernization, consolidation, rationalization, migration, and retirement opportunities.
  • Lead architecture assessments across legacy and modern enterprise environments.
  • Ensure solution and program architectures align with enterprise architecture standards and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Establish architecture governance processes including Architecture Review Boards, technical reviews, standards management, and exception processes.
  • Provide architectural leadership for cloud transformation, application modernization, data modernization, API enablement, enterprise integration, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Develop enterprise integration strategies utilizing APIs, microservices, events, messaging, interoperability standards, and shared services.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to embed Zero Trust, identity, access management, security controls, privacy, and compliance into enterprise architecture.
  • Partner with data architects to define enterprise data platforms, interoperability approaches, governance patterns, analytics architectures, and AI-ready data strategies.
  • Incorporate Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, intelligent automation, and other emerging technologies into enterprise architecture roadmaps where appropriate.
  • Establish architectural patterns for secure adoption of AI capabilities across applications, workflows, data, and enterprise services.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and determine their applicability to customer mission and enterprise environments.
  • Define cloud and platform strategies spanning AWS, Azure, SaaS, PaaS, container platforms, and hybrid environments.
  • Guide application teams in adopting modern engineering approaches including microservices, APIs, containers, DevSecOps, automation, and infrastructure as code.
  • Facilitate architecture workshops with business leaders, technical teams, vendors, and government stakeholders.
  • Develop architecture artifacts, diagrams, decision records, technology roadmaps, capability models, and executive presentations.
  • Identify architectural risks, technical debt, dependencies, and opportunities for enterprise reuse.
  • Work closely with Chief Architects, Solution Architects, AI Architects, Security Architects, Data Architects, engineers, and program leadership.
  • Support technical solutioning, capture, proposals, oral presentations, and strategic customer engagements.
  • Mentor architects and senior engineers and promote consistent architecture practices across programs.
Qualifications
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, software architecture, cloud architecture, or large-scale systems engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience developing enterprise architectures and technology modernization roadmaps.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise applications, cloud computing, APIs, integration, data platforms, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, and infrastructure.
  • Experience designing solutions across AWS, Azure, and/or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience establishing architecture standards, reference architectures, and governance processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex mission and business requirements into enterprise technology strategies.
  • Experience working across multiple programs, platforms, vendors, and stakeholder organizations.
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, presentation, and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust or other required government clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Federal Government technology modernization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Federal Enterprise Architecture concepts and government technology governance.
  • Experience with TOGAF, Zachman, DoDAF, or similar enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust, NIST security frameworks, FedRAMP, FISMA, Section 508, and Federal cloud environments.
  • Experience with Generative AI, AI platforms, machine learning, intelligent automation, and AI governance.
  • Experience with enterprise data architecture, API management, microservices, Kubernetes, containers, infrastructure as code, and modern DevSecOps platforms.
  • AWS, Azure, TOGAF, architecture, security, or related certifications preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting HHS, FDA, CMS, HRSA, DHS, or other Federal civilian agencies is a plus.

Educational Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Operations Management, or related field. 

Clearance: Eligible to obtain a public trust clearance.

Location: Hybrid (2 days per week or as needed in the REI Sterling Office)
