Job Overview

The Enterprise Applications Area Manager oversees key enterprise application domains, including Manufacturing Applications, HR Applications, Security Applications, and systems that interface with OT (Operational Technology) equipment. The role provides both people and technical leadership to ensure high-quality, reliable application and support services for the business. Success is demonstrated by well-led teams, consistent service levels, effective incident management, and strong customer satisfaction. This position is central to delivering stable, secure, and user-focused IT solutions across General Dynamics Land Systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for enterprise applications supporting manufacturing, HR, security, and OT environments.
  • Own the lifecycle of supported applications (planning, implementation, maintenance, upgrades, and retirement) to ensure reliability, performance, and security.
  • Partner with manufacturing, HR, security, and plant/OT stakeholders to understand business processes and translate requirements into application roadmaps and priorities.
  • Ensure application configurations, integrations, and data flows between enterprise systems are stable, secure, and well-documented.
  • Oversee incident, problem, and change management activities related to enterprise applications, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Lead and develop a support staff, including remote team members, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and monitor service levels and performance metrics for enterprise applications; drive actions to improve availability, response times, and user satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and OT/plant operations teams to ensure secure, compliant, and resilient application environments, particularly where IT and OT intersect.
  • Guide and support projects involving new application deployments, enhancements, integrations, and modernization initiatives across manufacturing, HR, and security domains.
  • Develop and maintain standards, procedures, and documentation for application support, configuration management, and change control.
  • Plan and manage resource allocation and vendor relationships related to enterprise applications and associated services.
  • Conduct regular staff performance reviews, coaching, and mentoring to build technical and leadership capabilities within the team.
  • Promote a culture focused on quality, customer satisfaction, safety, and adherence to GDLS policies and the GDLS Code of Ethics Handbook.

Qualifications

Education
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years managing a team, including experience leading multi-disciplinary IT or application support teams.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise-level applications (e.g., HRIS, security platforms, or other large-scale business systems).
  • Experience managing remote team members, including performance management, communication, and engagement in a distributed environment.
  • Manufacturing technology experience, including support of applications and systems used in manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with OT (Operational Technology) equipment and environments, and collaboration with OT/plant operations teams.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of ITIL methodology and strong understanding of information technology, including hardware, software, applications, and integration in an enterprise environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools.
  • Excellent customer service orientation, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities including patience, mentoring, providing employee feedback, and strong team management skills.

Ability to motivate employees through multiple methods and effectively lead both on-site and remote staff.
