Join our dynamic Development Services team to help shape the growth and safety of Edmonton's infrastructure. We are seeking a dedicated professional to audit and evaluate developer-contributed assets, ensuring our city's built environment stands the test of time.
As an Engineering Technologist I in the Development Inspections Unit of the Subdivision and Development Coordination Section, you will independently conduct quality assurance audits on civil construction projects across the city and support the senior Engineering Technologists with formal CCC and FAC Inspections. In this role, you will evaluate compliance with municipal standards, inspect developer-built assets, and mitigate long-term liability for the municipality. You will act as a primary technical contact in the field, collaborating with contractors and consultants to resolve issues and verify asset quality.
What will you do?
Audit and inspect private developer and utility projects, including grading, road construction, concrete, asphalt, street lighting, and utility installations
Enforce conditions within servicing agreements to ensure all technical work and materials strictly meet municipal specifications
Process and review applications for Construction Completion Certificates (CCC) and Final Acceptance Certificates (FAC)
Evaluate Plan of Record drawings to ensure field construction accurately reflects as-built documentation
Conduct defect assessments, confirm values, and authorize sign-offs or invoicing as needed
Provide field-level technical guidance and real-time decision-making on asset quality and construction standards
Collaborate with project teams, consultants, and contractors to resolve field discrepancies and design modifications
Support continuous process improvements by updating inspector guidelines and design specifications
Qualifications:

Conditions of Employment:
Candidates are required to hold a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent) or higher.
