The Impact You Will Have

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a cross-functional software engineering team responsible for designing, building, and delivering scalable applications and platform capabilities. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and hands-on collaboration to support the delivery of high-quality software solutions aligned with product and business priorities.

Working closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Data teams, and cross-functional stakeholders, you will help guide technical strategy, support team development, and drive execution across the software development lifecycle.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a cross-functional team of Frontend, Backend/API, and Quality Assurance engineers.


  • Partner with Product Managers to translate product requirements into technical solutions, delivery plans, and engineering priorities.


  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including planning, architecture, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing iteration.


  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance across backend services, APIs, and application development.


  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of backend systems and data workflows using technologies such as Python, Airflow, PostgreSQL, and Kafka.


  • Collaborate with Product, Data Engineering, and Data Science teams to support data-driven application experiences.


  • Promote engineering best practices related to code quality, testing, monitoring, scalability, and technical documentation.


  • Manage technical debt, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to long-term platform stability and scalability.


  • Partner with other Engineering Managers on cross-team engineering initiatives and shared platform standards.


  • Mentor and support engineers through coaching, feedback, and career development.


  • Perform other duties as assigned


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.


  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years of engineering leadership or people management experience.


  • Experience developing APIs and distributed applications using modern backend technologies and service-oriented architectures.


  • Strong experience with Python and modern backend development frameworks.


  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), event-driven architectures, and scalable web applications.


  • Experience leading Agile software development teams and collaborating cross-functionally with Product and Data teams.


  • Experience with mapping and geospatial technologies such as Mapbox preferred.


  • Real estate, financial services, or related industry experience preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of modern software engineering principles, application architecture, and web development fundamentals.


  • Deep understanding of software testing practices across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.


  • Strong technical problem-solving and system design skills.


  • Ability to balance hands-on technical contributions with team leadership responsibilities.


  • Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.


  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled development tools to support engineering workflows, documentation, and testing preferred.


  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


  • Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes


  • Courtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholders


This position has an estimated base salary of 170k-190k plus a discretionary bonus. An employment offer is based on the applicant's relevant work experience, applicable knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
