Position Overview
The Engineering Manager leads a team supporting two manufacturing sites in South Bend, IN, driving safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. This role focuses on continuous improvement, capital project execution, and developing engineering talent in a process safety environment. The position partners cross-functionally to optimize operations and implement scalable, data-driven solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead and develop an engineering team, including coaching, performance management, and succession planning
Drive process improvement through Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies
Identify and implement initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance
Manage capital projects ($2M–$4M annually), including scope, budget, scheduling, and execution
Apply data analysis, automation, and technology to optimize manufacturing processes
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to solve complex production challenges
Lead structured change management initiatives to support adoption and sustain improvements
Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards, including Process Safety Management
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
7+ years of engineering experience in chemical or process manufacturing environments
3+ years of people leadership or supervisory experience
Demonstrated experience leading process improvement initiatives with measurable outcomes (e.g., cost savings, efficiency gains)
Six Sigma Green Belt certification and experience managing capital projects in a regulated environment
Experience with PLC systems (e.g., Rockwell), SAP, and standard engineering software tools
Work authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
Preferred Requirements
Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
Professional Engineering (PE) license or PMP certification
Experience with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF, AS9100)
Experience with CMMS systems and advanced data analytics tools

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
The salary for this role is $135,000-$160,000.
