Full Job Description
About the Role

Sycle is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead one of our core product streams, the Digital Clinic team. This role combines people leadership, software delivery, and hands-on technical contribution. You will serve as a strategic partner to Product Management and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software while coaching and growing engineers. The role is remote but we're only hiring in BC, AB and ON.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and Develop the Engineering Team: Manage, coach, and develop engineers through regular 1:1s, actionable feedback, and career growth support. Foster a high-trust culture of ownership, accountability, engineering quality, and continuous learning.
  • Support Delivery & Strategic Alignment: Serve as a strategic partner to Product Management, converting product roadmaps into clear technical milestones and execution plans. Remove blockers, manage dependencies, and balance product roadmap features with technical debt and maintainability.
  • Contribute Technically: Participate directly in software delivery, architecture, code reviews, and complex technical problem-solving. Stay close to the codebase to guide technical decisions without becoming a delivery bottleneck.
  • Improve How We Build Software: Drive continuous improvement in developer experience, automation, testing, and delivery practices. Leverage AI-assisted tools and integrate agentic AI agents with strong governance, traceability, and human-in-the-loop review processes to enhance engineering efficiency.

What We're Looking For
  • Proven software engineering leadership within a Healthcare SaaS or related regulated industry environment.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or managing software engineers while maintaining technical engagement.
  • Strong strategic collaboration skills with Product Management, Design, and QA partners.
  • Solid background in system design, database schemas (PostgreSQL), code reviews, testing, debugging, and production support.
  • Experience or strong understanding of modern architecture (microservices, monolithic, modular monoliths) and tech stacks including TypeScript, Node.js (NestJS), PHP, Next.js, AWS, and CI/CD
  • Strong understanding of Agentic AI tools and AI-assisted development workflows to drive engineering productivity.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means fostering an empowered engineering team that operates with clarity and ownership, delivers high-quality software consistently in partnership with Product Management, and leverages modern AI practices to maximize impact.

Benefits
  • Healthcare: 100% employer-paid employee-only premium
  • Time Off: 14 paid holidays, 12 vacation days, 4 personal days, and 6 sick days.
  • RRSP Matching: Up to 4% matching on contributions of 5% or more
  • Perks: $50/month internet stipend, $50/month transit (Vancouver), and tuition reimbursement.

How to Apply

To apply, please submit your resume. If you're going to submit a cover letter please focus on how your previous experience relates to this role and why you would be a good fit.

Submission Requirement: You must include a link to your LinkedIn profile both within your resume document and in the designated application field.
