Full Job Description
Position Overview
The Manager of BESS Standard Solutions is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop, optimize, and maintain standardized battery energy storage system (BESS) power block solutions. This role focuses on creating technically sound, commercially competitive, and execution-ready standard configurations built around LGES ESS products, paired with appropriately specified power conversion systems (PCS) and medium-voltage transformers (MVT). The outputs of this team directly enable our Sales teams to efficiently bid projects using pre-engineered, well-documented solutions, while also supporting downstream execution teams post-contract. This role reports to the Director of Project and Applications Engineering. This role will work out of LGES Vertech's Westborough, MA office.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of engineers with specialties spanning electrical engineering, PCS, transformers, system engineering, and technical documentation.
Establish and enforce engineering rigor, documentation standards, and review processes within the team.
Mentor and develop team members, setting clear expectations, goals, and performance standards.
Define and own standard BESS power block architectures, including battery containers, PCS, MV transformers, auxiliary systems, and interfaces.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Engineering, Sales Engineering, Project Engineering, Supply Chain, Product Management, to align standard solutions with business strategy.
Specify and technically vet PCS and MV transformer solutions in collaboration with Supply Chain, ensuring alignment with performance, reliability, cost, and constructability goals.
Perform system-level technical analysis and due diligence to optimize standard solutions for performance, efficiency, grid compliance, constructability, and lifecycle cost.
Ensure standard solutions meet applicable codes, standards, and interconnection requirements across target markets.
Develop and maintain high-quality documentation for standard solutions, including technical descriptions, one-lines, schematics, performance envelopes, assumptions, and constraints.
Enable Sales and Sales Engineering teams by providing clear, consistent, and trusted standard solution packages for project bidding.
Support execution teams post-contract by ensuring standard solution documentation is sufficient for detailed engineering, procurement, and construction.
Drive continuous improvement of standard offerings based on market feedback, project learnings, supplier updates, and cost or performance optimization opportunities.
