Summary

The Engineering Licensing & Software Asset Specialist is responsible for determining, documenting, and managing the correct software licensing models for COTS software products used within CAE's delivered simulator systems. This role serves as the liaison between engineering, procurement, vendors, and internal licensing teams to ensure compliance, cost-efficiency, repeatability, and offline activation support for air-gapped environments. The Engineering Licensing & Software Asset Specialist may also support license tracking and delivery efforts, including logging received licenses, generating software media, tracking Government Reproduction Rights on COTS documentation, and preparing status accounting records and reports.

The Engineering Licensing & Software Asset Specialist performs detailed licensing analysis, vendor engagement, documentation, and lifecycle management activities to support CAE's simulator programs. Core duties include interpreting licensing models, producing SKU Bill of Materials, preparing entitlement documentation, and supporting offline activation workflows.
  • Translate simulator architectures (domain controllers, hypervisors, NAS, runtime servers, instructor stations) into accurate licensing requirements.
  • Engage with vendors to obtain written clarification on licensing terms, virtualization rights, and offline activation requirements.
  • Produce buy-ready SKU Bills of Materials (BOMs) for procurement.
  • Support air-gapped installations through offline activation guides and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Maintain entitlement ledgers tied to each delivered simulator.
  • Identify reusable licensing patterns and document them for future programs.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, PMO, and COTS licensing teams.
  • Log incoming software, documentation and software licenses and maintain an inventory of the Software Media Library.
  • Prepare status accounting reports.
  • Prepare deliveries of the Project software and COTS software and documentation to CAE customers.
  • Perform internal audits of the Software Media Library and support QA audits.
  • Support Physical Configuration Audits (PCA) for the projects
  • Develop and update internal work procedures


Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 4-8+ years of experience in software licensing, SAM, IT procurement, or system integration.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex licensing models.
  • Experience supporting offline/air-gapped systems.
  • Familiarity with export-controlled environments is preferred.
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.


Preferred Skills

Preferred candidates will have experience with air-gapped system deployments, Windows MAK/AVMA activation, SQL virtualization rights, and backup licensing models. They should also possess excellent documentation skills and cross-functional communication abilities

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.


Work Environment
  • Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility.
  • Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required.
  • The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.
