Job Summary
The Engineering Change & New Drawing Project Manager is responsible for leading the coordination and tracking of Engineering Changes (ECs) and new drawing releases to ensure timely, accurate implementation in support of program and production needs. This Principal/Senior Principal role serves as a central point of contact between design engineering, manufacturing, quality, configuration/data management, Programs, and Engineering Project Managers, driving clear communication, workflow discipline, and continuous improvement across the EC process.
Key Responsibilities
• Own end-to-end coordination of Engineering Changes (ECs) and new drawing releases, ensuring changes are planned, reviewed, and implemented on schedule.
• Utilize a detailed tracking worksheet to status EC and New Drawing progress daily, covering all workflow steps, to maintain visibility and ensure timely completion.
• Conduct daily tag-ups with the design engineering team to review EC status, discuss processing issues, and identify/engage additional resources when issues remain unresolved.
• Monitor duration at each workflow step against established benchmarks; proactively follow up with stakeholders when steps exceed typical duration, offer help in resolving issues, and elevate urgency to higher-level management if progress stalls.
• Partner with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, configuration/data management, Programs, and Engineering Project Managers to gather inputs, resolve issues, and drive EC decisions.
• Act as the connective tissue across a complex, multi-stakeholder EC workflow—reducing friction at handoffs, keeping communication flowing, and ensuring each step progresses smoothly.
• Ensure all released drawings and EC documentation meet configuration control, revision, and traceability requirements in Teamcenter MPLM and other applicable systems and tools.
• Create, maintain, and track EC and drawing release schedules, metrics, and status reports to provide clear visibility to leadership and stakeholders.
• Gather and document lessons learned from ECs to improve troubleshooting and future processing efficiency.
• Build rapport and positive working relationships by acknowledging stakeholder actions (e.g., timely completion of tasks), reinforcing collaboration and support for future high-priority ECs.
• Work closely with experienced design and stakeholder teams to continuously improve EC and drawing release processes and cross-functional collaboration.
