Description
The Senior Field Environmental Engineer is a key member of the Environmental Compliance team responsible for providing environmental compliance support for assigned assets and operations. This role partners closely with Operations and other internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, permits, and company policies. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Own and implement environmental management systems at assigned facilities to ensure compliance with environmental air, water, and waste regulations, permits, programs, procedures, and policies.
Serve as the primary environmental compliance resource and customer-service liaison to field operations.
Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g. Operations) to support and ensure each assigned facility is "inspection ready".
Support and attend agency inspections.
Maintain working relationships with internal departments, including but not limited to Environmental, Operations, Safety, Commercial, Legal, and Land, as well as external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies.
Ability to accurately prepare emission calculations using established methods for reporting to government agencies.
Track, analyze, and trend emissions and environmental performance data on a routine basis with the ability to identify problems and work with stakeholders to propose solutions.
Prepare and submit routine environmental reports (i.e. NSPS, MACT, Title V, etc.) to government agencies and respond to agency follow-up questions, as needed.
Achieve environmental compliance objectives consistent with departmental and corporate goals.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance environmental performance and compliance.
Support implementation of corporate environmental directives, programs, and initiatives.
Communicate internal best practices as applicable to assigned facilities/operations personnel.
Oversee the preparation and implementation of SPCC Plans and Spill Response Plans (e.g. OPA 90 Plans and Facility Response Plans).
Respond to environmental incidents and spills and provide support during emergency response activities.
Manage short-term environmental remediation projects and associated contractors, as required.
Manage environmental contractors, as required.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field is required.
Minimum of five (5) years of environmental compliance experience within the oil and gas industry.
Experience preparing air emissions calculations and regulatory reports.
Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations applicable to oil and gas operations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees, management, regulators, contractors, and external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and evaluate their applicability to operational activities.
Ability to perform field work, including walking on uneven terrain and accessing remote operational locations.
Ability to be available to respond to emergency calls and emails in non-traditional working hours (i.e. nights, weekends, and holidays).
Willingness and ability to travel regionally up to 50% as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with environmental regulatory compliance in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and New Mexico.
Experience implementing and managing Title V air permitting programs.
Knowledge of emissions units and regulatory requirements associated with natural gas processing facilities, refined products storage and loading operations, and pipeline systems.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting tools.
Experience managing environmental contractors and remediation projects.
