The Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Engineer will design, maintain and optimize critical automation, control, and power distribution systems across upstream, midstream and downstream facilities. This position manages the lifecycle of electrical infrastructure, field instrumentation, and automated control systems for CNX. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain regulatory compliance, maximize facility uptime, and execute capital or maintenance projects from design to startup.
Target Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate CNX's core values of Responsibility, Ownership, and Excellence.
• Provide engineering and technical support for process control, instrumentation, and measurement technologies for projects.
• Participate in the design effort for control system upgrades, Burner Management System upgrades, and shutdown system upgrades.
• Providing guidance and support for process control project scope and estimates.
• Support the use of new standards, specifications, details, maintenance procedures, and documentation for plant and pipeline related projects.
• Develop and review Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), cause-and-effect matrices, loop diagrams, electrical one-line diagrams, and instrument specifications.
• Configure, program, and troubleshoot Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), loop checks, and plant startup troubleshooting.
• Perform root-cause analysis on equipment or system failures and support predictive/preventive maintenance programs.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or a related ABET-accredited discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience with implementation of process control systems and I&E related functions for plant and pipeline facilities.
• Basic knowledge of electrical and instrumentation design.
• Proficiency in industrial control architecture, instrument data sheets, and engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD).
• Ability to work both independently and with others in the organization.
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Working knowledge of industry standards for documentation, basics and complex regulatory control, loop tuning, safety systems, DCS and PLC configuration is preferred.
• Basic experience with Honeywell and Allen Bradley PLC is preferred.
