Full Job Description
RK&K's Water Resources group is growing! We are hiring a Water Resources Engineer to join our team in our Baltimore, Maryland office. As a Water Resources Engineer for RK&K you will be responsible for the design and analysis of Drainage/Stormwater Management systems; Erosion and Sediment Control; Hydrology/Hydraulics; and Watershed Studies. Projects will include, but not be limited to major interstates/interchanges, roadway widenings, water quality, flood mitigation, environmental restoration, and bridge hydraulics.

Essential Functions
  • Proactively deliver a wide range of water resource projects including drainage design, flood studies, watershed plans, erosion/sediment control plans, scour analysis, outfall stabilization/ stream restoration plans, and other related projects in accordance with the scope, schedule, and budget set by the project manager
  • Evaluate bridge hydraulics and scour countermeasures
  • Delineate drainage basins
  • Design erosion and sediment control systems
  • Prepare construction plans, specifications, design reports, technical memoranda, and miscellaneous contract documents
  • Prepare environmental permit drawings, applications, and reports
  • Support field investigations/evaluations when required.
  • Work with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challenges

Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • Two (2) + years of experience in Civil Water Resources or Transportation Engineering
  • Working knowledge of basic hydrologic and hydraulic principles
  • EIT or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Experience with MicroStation/AutoCAD
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work both collaboratively/in a team environment and independently

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Familiarity with SWMM, HY-8, TR-55, TR-20, or other related software
  • Familiarity with HEC-RAS, HY-8, Flo-2D, StormCAD or other related software
  • Experience with Open Roads Designer is a bonus
