Engineer II, CPD

Work Mode: Onsite

Location:Onsite, four days per week - Kohler, WI

What You'll Do
  • Identify and assess technical feasibility of product redesigns and manage the execution of cost-reduction activities.
  • Apply engineering analysis to design enhancements that improve production efficiency and cost effectiveness worldwide.
  • Review product returns and determine the root cause of faucet product issues.Includes potential travel to customer locations for troubleshooting.
  • Work closely customer service and quality groups to understand product failure reports and lead troubleshooting investigations.
  • Create and validate short term and long term solutions to address product performance issues.
  • Consolidate and report on issues and trends related to product failures and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and propose new ideas for product features, improvements, and innovations.
  • Stay at the forefront of materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to influence future product direction.
  • Create and maintain detailed product specifications that reflect manufacturing requirements, regulatory standards, and marketing needs.
  • Generate and evaluate multiple technical solutions using Design for Six Sigma, FEA, and other analytical methods-while recognizing when quick, practical solutions are the best path forward.
  • Own all aspects of product design accuracy, including GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and form/fit/function evaluations.
  • Ensure product compliance and functionality through testing and analysis.
  • Preserve and elevate Kohler's design and styling standards across components and assemblies.
  • Prepare technical drawings and documentation that clearly define or update product requirements.
  • Manage priorities, action plans, and timelines for multiple projects; influence cross-functional partners even without direct authority.
  • Support cost modeling efforts and track savings across projects.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor of science degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program required, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering focus is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanical engineering experience. Previous successful leadership of engineering or cross-functional team is desirable.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of CAD modeling, Creo/Windchill experience preferred.
  • Hands on fabrication and prototyping skills
  • Experience with SAP is a positive, as well as the demonstrated ability to research and manage product data.
  • International and domestic travel as needed (approx. 15%)

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation.
