Full Job Description
As a Field Service Engineer, you'll bring the technical discipline, precision, and equipment expertise you developed in the military to support ASM's advanced semiconductor tools and help our customers keep their fabs running at peak performance. You'll work with the same mindset you relied on in mission-critical environments-applying your engineering background and real-world troubleshooting experience to technologies that power AI, 5G, cloud computing, and next-generation devices. This is a chance to leverage the skills you gained maintaining complex systems in the field and continue building your technical mastery in a rapidly growing, high-tech industry. In this role, you'll operate at the center of cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing. It's an ideal opportunity for veterans and transitioning service members who have supported sophisticated mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems and want to apply that expertise in a world-class technology environment where every day brings new challenges to solve. From day one, you'll receive structured training and hands-on guidance from experienced engineers onsite. You'll work with vacuum systems, plasma, chemical delivery, robotics, sensors, advanced metrology, and complex hardware-software interactions-equipment that will feel familiar if you've maintained avionics, electronics, propulsion, navigation, comms, radar, robotics, or similar military systems. Your contributions will directly impact tool performance, system uptime, and customer success, forming a strong foundation for long-term growth and a variety of career paths within ASM. Shifts available: • Shift 4 (6pm-6am)- Sun-Tu and every other Saturday • Shift 6 (6pm- 6am)- Wed-Fri and every other Saturday What you will be working on • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair ASM semiconductor equipment at customer sites • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and process issues in collaboration with senior engineering staff • Deliver responsive, customer-focused service with a strong commitment to safety and operational discipline • Working in cleanroom environments while following strict safety and quality standards • Assisting, identifying and contributing to continuous improvement efforts • Participate in escalations and cross-functional problem-solving • Work on an assigned shift schedule supporting 24/7 manufacturing operations What we are looking for • Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field • Hands-on technical experience maintaining, repairing, or troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems • Proven ability to diagnose complex system faults, follow technical procedures with precision, and maintain equipment in mission-critical environments • Experience working under strict safety protocols, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and high-reliability operational standards • Comfort working in shift-based environments where readiness, accountability, and teamwork are essential • Demonstratedability to stay calm under pressure, adapt quickly to changing conditions, and take ownership of equipment performance in demanding situations • Ability to read and interpret electronic and electromechanical schematics • Strong troubleshooting skills and disciplined adherence to safety • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment • Clear and effective written and verbal communication • Ability to work independently and collaboratively • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally • Proficiency with Microsoft Office What sets you apart • Experience with equipment, gas handling, or high-precision machinery • Experience writing or updating technical documentation • Background in customer-facing or technical support roles • Familiarity with structured problem-solving, data analysis, or statistical methodologies • Military experience such as Avionics Technician, Electronics Technician, Nuclear Machinist Mate, Satellite/Communications Systems Technician, or similar specialties Why join ASM? With us, you will have strong long-term growth potential at the forefront of semiconductor technology. Your first role as an FSE is the foundation - not necessarily the finish line. With clear pathways into technical leadership, operations, product roles, program management, technical sales and process engineering, ASM gives you the flexibility to grow in the direction that fits you best in an industry that makes AI possible. 2026 is the year to join ASM as a Field Service Engineer.
