The endodontist's responsibilities includeperforming intentional replantation procedures as needed, advisingpatients on post-surgery dental care, and prescribing suitablepain-relief medication. You should also be able to maintainrelationships with dentists and other practitioners in the field.
Tobe successful as an endodontist, you should be able to keep abreast ofthe latest developments in endodontics to ensure that patients receivethe best treatment possible. Ultimately, an exceptional Endodontistshould demonstrate dental proficiency, patience, and excellentcommunication skills at all times.
Endodontist Responsibilities:- Reviewingpatients' medical history and discussing their symptoms and concerns.
- Utilizingdental instruments and x-ray equipment to determine the cause ofpatients' oral pain and discomfort.
- Formulatingsuitable treatment plans based on the diagnosed dental condition.
- Performingnon-surgical root canal treatment to treat damaged or infected tooth pulp.
- Performingendodontic surgery to clean canals that contain calcium deposits,assist in making accurate diagnoses, and treat damaged root surfacesor surrounding bone.
- Performingapicoectomies to treat persistent inflammation or infectionoccurring in the bony area around the end of the tooth.
- Maintainingteeth that have previously undergone root canal procedures.
- Replantingteeth that have been knocked out of patients' mouths.
- Completing a comprehensivediagnosis, treatment, and progress notes on each patient.
Requirements- Doctor ofdental surgery (DDS) or Doctor of dental medicine (DMD) degree.
- Completion of apost-doctoral residency program in endodontics.
- License topractice dentistry.
- Certificationthrough the American Board of Endodontics (ABE) is preferred.
- Provenexperience working as an Endodontist.
- Excellentanalytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effectivecommunication skills.
- Good hand-eye condition.
- A patient and empathetic disposition.
