Full Job Description

Our Employment Practice Group represents employers in complex and high-profile employment matters across a broad range of industries. The ideal candidate will possess strong litigation, research, writing, and advocacy skills, with experience independently managing sophisticated employment matters through all phases of litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage all phases of employment litigation from inception through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation-related filings
  • Conduct and defend depositions and participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and other dispute resolution proceedings
  • Attend and advocate at court appearances, hearings, arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and trials
  • Handle matters involving employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, PAGA claims, and other employment-related matters
  • Represent employers in investigations and proceedings before federal, state, and local agencies
  • Advise and counsel employers on workplace issues, employment law compliance, personnel matters, and risk management strategies
  • Manage discovery, motion practice, investigations, and case deadlines in both state and federal courts
  • Communicate directly with clients, provide strategic guidance, and maintain strong client relationships
  • Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice groups to develop litigation strategies and achieve favorable outcomes

Qualifications

  • Admission to practice in California required
  • Minimum of 5 years of employment litigation experience
  • Experience handling employment litigation matters in both state and federal courts
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and arguing motions, conducting depositions, and managing complex litigation matters
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to independently manage an active caseload and prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to exceptional client service

Preferred Experience

  • Employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination litigation
  • Wage and hour litigation, including collective actions, class actions, and PAGA matters
  • Traditional labor law matters and labor-management relations
  • Investigations before the U.S. Department of Labor, California Department of
  • Industrial Relations, California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, EEOC, and state and local human rights agencies
  • Experience appearing before the National Labor Relations Board in matters involving union organizing, collective bargaining, unfair labor practices, representation proceedings, and labor arbitrations

Base Salary Range: $155,000-$215,000
