DefinitionUnder limited supervision of the EMS Division Chief, to support the community's and fire department's stated mission and values, to analyze, design, plan, implement, and administer EMS programs within the fire department. Provides continuous quality improvement, EMS certifications and other educational and improvement programs within the Salt River Fire Department.
This is an FLSA Non-Exempt position and considered a DRIVING position.Essential Functions:(Essential functions may vary among positions, but may include the following tasks, knowledge, abilities, skills and other characteristics. Examples of Tasks - Conducts EMS training activities and classroom instruction both in person and on-line training platforms. Classes to include Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pre Hospital Advanced Life Support (PHTLS), CPR, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and other ALS/BLS programs
- Evaluates Emergency Medical Services data, identify methods of effective medical care, patient care delivery systems, correction of medical care and patient delivery situations, design quality assurance programs to determine effectiveness of current practices, Development of EMS standard operating guidelines.
- Conduct research in regard to current practices and future trends in EMS and to assure the Salt River Fire Department reflects the most current technology and service delivery methods.
- Serves as a liaison between the Salt River Fire Department and the base hospitals, medical direction authorities, ambulance providers, medical facilities within the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community.
- Recommend and assist the EMS Division in the implementation of goals and objectives for EMS programs and projects, establish schedules and methods of EMS operations, and to assist in the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures as required.
- Communicates with fire personnel, community members, and other customers in the resolution of EMS issues.
- Performs ride-along with emergency vehicles during emergency calls to evaluate EMS services under emergency conditions.
- Conducts and/or participates in working meetings with a wide variety of individuals and groups; utilizes leadership, management, and interpersonal skills in reaching decisions, formulating recommendations, and the negotiation/resolution.
- Assists with the development, justification, trends and purchases for department fiscal EMS budget.
- Represents and serves on committees, task forces, and interagency coordinating groups regarding the fire department: presenting materials and reports to the Tribal Council and or committee.
- Performs other job-related duties that enhance and facilitate departmental operations.

- Knowledge of Arizona and National Registry EMS education requirements.

Minimum QualificationsEducation & Experience: Associate's degree in closely related field, Bachelor's degree preferred. Five (5) years' experience as an Arizona certified Paramedic or Registered Nurse with current credentials.
- Experience in critical care, pre-hospital medical care, and or medical transportation settings preferred.
- Experience in developing and or conducting training in emergency medical services, emergency patient care, and critical patient care subject areas.
- Possess or obtain ACLS, CPR and PALS certifications within 1 year of hire.
Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered.
Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.
Special RequirementsSpecial Requirement: This position is subject to working hours outside of normal workweek, including nights, weekends and holidays.
