The Embedded Systems Engineer III is a senior technical contributor who owns system-level architecture and drives high-impact development initiatives. This role requires deep technical expertise in embedded software and hardware debugging, as well as the ability to design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems. The engineer is expected to mentor and guide junior and mid-level team members, influence cross-functional decision-making, and ensure technical alignment with product goals. In addition, this role represents the engineering function in customer-facing scenarios, whether presenting solutions, gathering requirements, or supporting on-site technical discussions, and demonstrates leadership both within the team and across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of core embedded software modules and system-level functionality
  • Drive architecture discussions, long-term technical planning, and decisions impacting multiple subsystems
  • Debug complex, cross-layer issues (hardware, firmware, and system integration) using systematic approaches
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to bring up, validate, and optimize system functionality
  • Define and enforce code quality, documentation, and development process standards across the team
  • Represent the embedded systems team in cross-functional discussions with product management, QA, and manufacturing
  • Engage with customers directly to gather requirements, explain designs, and support on-site troubleshooting or acceptance testing
  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies, tools, or methods that align with business and product goals
  • Provide technical risk assessments and contribute to project planning at a system level
  • Prepare and deliver clear technical documentation, specifications, and design reviews for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide accurate visibility into project status, risks, and resource needs to management
  • Demonstrate leadership, accountability, and initiative in ensuring projects are delivered successfully


Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering (or related field)
  • 6+ years of professional experience in embedded systems development
  • Expert in C/C++ with deep knowledge of real-time operating systems and peripheral drivers
  • Strong expertise in communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet)
  • Strong familiarity with hardware bring-up, board-level debugging, and system testing
  • Reads and interprets schematics/PCB layouts to identify and resolve hardware faults
  • Travel as needed (
  • Mentors junior and mid-level engineers through technical coaching and example
  • Ability to pivot quickly and focus on high-priority tasks as needed
