As an engineer on the team, you will be intimately involved in the architecture decisions that will shape our products. You are dedicated to building device software that requires high stability and fast, consistent performance. You love working with the latest open source technologies, and can leverage your system design skills to make the right technical decisions on a system that needs to be bullet-proof.
Not only can you drive decisions among competing engineering trade-offs, your empathy with customers allows you to offer innovative solutions for our customer problems. You will be working closely with product managers and designers to ensure we are building the right solution for our customers. You also enjoy mentoring other engineers, and love to be a hands-on teacher helping to up level the team around you.
Your job, as an Embedded Application Software Engineer, will be to design, develop, test and maintain embedded applications and the supporting systems and libraries, while interfacing with cloud and firmware services for the devices. What You'll DoReports to: Engineering Manager
Direct Reports: 0• Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of embedded applications and network configurations for current and future Axon products
• Implement features and enhancements in C/C++, Go, or Python with a focus on reliability and performance
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and system-level tests
• Participate actively in code reviews, design discussions, and technical problem solving
• Collaborate with Product Management, Design, Firmware, and Cloud Engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Debug and resolve issues across embedded devices, networking layers, and supporting systemss
• Support continuous improvement of engineering processes including sprint planning, retrospectives, and release cycles
• Learn and apply modern open source tools and frameworks relevant to embedded systems
What You Bring• 1-3 years of professional software development experience
• Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: C/C++, Go, or Python
• Experience working with Linux-based systems in a professional setting
• Experience writing unit and integration tests
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals including data structures,algorithms, and object-oriented design
• Exposure to embedded devices and networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, or VPN is a plus
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
• Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, mission-critical engineering environment

This role is based out of our Seattle, Scottsdale, or Boston offices and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. Base Pay Range
$106,500-$170,400 USD
