Summary

The Electronics Applications Engineer II will provide customer technical support in both pre and post sales settings. In addition, the engineer effectively communicates product utilization challenges and customer-specific requirements to internal stakeholders.

The Electronics Application Engineer II will support North Atlantic Industries' products and will report to the AE Manager.

Requirements

  • Provide pre & post sales product information, advice and technical assistance to prospects towards the goal of achieving new design wins.
  • Via telephone and email correspondence with customer, understand project technical system requirements.
  • Advise and participate with the prospect during customer test and evaluation activities.
  • Work to develop a position as "first line" technical interface during the design-in process.
  • Coordinate additional support activities and post-sales technical support with engineering departments.
  • Ensure that documentation, necessary hardware and software revisions, specifications and test data and ancillary technical requests are provided on a timely basis in support of the design-in process.
  • Determine product technical strengths and weaknesses vs. competition in design-in contests.
  • Communicate internally, product challenges and customer specific requirements for the purpose of resolution.
  • Candidates must be a U.S. Person, defined as either a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), and must be able to provide appropriate documentation upon hire to verify this status. Please note that some positions involve sensitive customer contracts and require U.S. citizenship as a condition of employment.


Major Activities and Tasks
  • Recommendation of specific products based upon the prospect's application and environmental requirements.
  • Identification of customer specific requirements and/or preferences as part of design-in selection.
  • Consultation with prospects concerning the appropriate utilization of the company's products.
  • Participation in "troubleshooting" activities for the purpose of determining hardware and/or software problems which could inhibit successful design-in of the company's products.
  • Coordinate technical support for purposes of overcoming design-in difficulties.
  • Become familiar with the company's new products and ensure documentation is current.
  • Generate technical design-in status reports.
  • Document special customer requirements and/or application utilization needs.
  • Attend training courses on new products.
  • Inform the account sales person of any competitive information or product difficulties learned from prospects in the design-in process.
  • Remain in contact with the customer to ensure continued technical satisfaction with the product(s) chosen for the specific project or program.


Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • BSEE / BSET or a four year degree in a technical discipline required.
  • Some knowledge of embedded Bus architectures (VME, CPCI, etc.), Processors and/or related products a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical support role desired.
  • Outstanding communication skills both verbally and written.

Preferred Skills
  • Good organizational skills and strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently toward focused goals.
  • Familiarity with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
