Position DescriptionSalary Information:
The salary for this position is negotiated through a collective bargaining agreement. All new employees will be hired at the minimum salary in the range and will be eligible for merit increases until reaching the maximum salary in the range.
DefinitionPerform skilled technical work in the operation, design, and construction of specialized electronics equipment used in surveillance, security, and operations in a law enforcement setting.

Minimum Qualifications/Position-Specific ConditionsTraining, Education and Experience- Two years of field experience as an electronic repair technician, surveillance officer, or surveillance technician for a police or governmental agency, or a related field; and
- Equivalent to the completion of a two-year course in electronics.
- Experience working in a police or governmental agency is desirable.
License or CertificatePossession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid driver license.
Best Candidates Will Have- A college degree, certificate, or relevant course work in Criminal Justice, Milestone Video Management System, Video Management Systems, and/or Computer Networking.
- Current or past experience with a law enforcement agency.
- Computer training and/or hands-on experience with handling complex hardware and software issues.
- Experience specifically with Milestone Video Management System of at least two years.
- Milestone Certified Integration Technician (MCIT) Certification.
- Experience with Axis surveillance cameras and/or completion of the Axis Communications Network Video Fundamentals & Certification Course.
- Knowledge of best practices for networking, network routing, network infrastructure, switch hierarchy, switches, routers, radios, surveillance cameras, and port forwarding.
- Knowledge of best practices for fiber, fiber splicing, fiber connectors, and ethernet connections.
- Knowledge of case law relevant to surveillance cameras, search and seizure privacy concerns.
- Good knowledge of overt and covert investigative methods and operations for surveillance cameras.
- Experience in Project Management and organizing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience preparing technical, analytical, and/or narrative reports and other written materials involving large scale projects.
- Experience with delegating, assigning, and escalating tasks.
- Knowledge of LVMPD organization and policies.
- Knowledge of LVMPD Technical and Surveillance Section (TASS) responsibilities.
- Experience working with outside vendors in planning, purchasing equipment, tracking, and coordinating.

LAS VEGAS METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENTCIVILIAN EMPLOYEE BENEFITS Benefits are effective July 1, 2023, are based
upon an 80 hour pay period in a paid status, and are subject to change.
COMPENSATION ASSIGNMENT DIFFERENTIAL: Specific assignments may qualify for assignment differential pay.
EDUCATION INCENTIVE: Civilian employees possessing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master Degree from an accredited college or university will receive a designated amount per pay period based on degree.
OVERTIME PAY / COMPENSATORY TIME: Employees who work overtime have the option of being paid at 1-1/2 times their hourly rate or receiving 1-1/2 hours of compensatory time. Compensatory time may not accumulate beyond 60 hours.
SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL: Employees will receive an additional 4% shift pay for working a swing shift or a graveyard shift. After completing initial probation, employees working a graveyard shift encompassing the hours of midnight to 5:00 a.m. will receive an additional 2% shift pay.
LANGUAGE PAY: Qualified employees may receive Language Pay each pay period.
UNIFORMS: The Department furnishes, maintains, and cleans all uniforms for those personnel required to wear uniforms, with the exception of footgear.
TAXES: State/City - Nevada has no state tax or city income tax.
Social Security - Employees enrolled in PERS pay no social security.
Medicare - Medicare is deducted at the rate of 1.45%.
WORKING HOURS: Employees work 80 hours bi-weekly. Depending upon the area of assignment, employees work an 8-hour, a 9-hour, a 10-hour, or a 12-hour shift per day.
LEAVE AND HOLIDAYS ANNUAL VACATION LEAVE: Employees begin accruing vacation leave immediately at the following rates:
- 1 - 14 years of service:4.62 hours per pay period (3 weeks per year)
- 15 - 19 years of service:6.15 hours per pay period (4 weeks per year)
- 20 + years of service:7.68 hours per pay period (5 weeks per year)
Vacation leave may be used after 6 months of continuous service.
On December 31st of each year, employees may carry over a portion of accrued leave, based upon their years of service.
Employees separating from the Department are eligible to cash out all accrued vacation if they have completed six months of continuous service.
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Employees may take bereavement leave for members of their immediate family. This leave can be deducted from any available accrued leave.
BONUS LEAVE: If an employee uses the equivalent of 3 days or less of sick leave, (including Family Leave), within an employment year, (the year beginning with the date of hire), s/he will receive 3 shifts of bonus leave. The shifts will be based on his/her regular work schedule at the time of accrual. The accrued balance may not exceed 280 hours. Employees separating from the Department are eligible to cash out all accrued bonus leave.
PERSONAL HOLIDAY: At the start of each fiscal year (July 1st), civilian employees receive three floating holidays. Employees must use these days by June 30th of each fiscal year or they will be forfeited. Employees must have completed 6 months of continuous service to be eligible to use floating holidays. Floating holidays must be taken as full days, and have no cash-out value.
HOLIDAYS: Employees receive 13 paid holidays per year. A holiday compensation plan is in place for employees who work on a holiday, or when a holiday falls on an employee's regular day off. In June and December of each year, employees may choose holiday straight time pay or holiday leave accrual as a
