Position Summary The Electro-Mechanical Technician will lead operations in installing, troubleshooting, calibrating, and maintaining all instrumentation and mechanical equipment. This position reports to the Plant Manager.
Key ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties/Responsibilities:- Recognize safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public
- Knowledgeable of environmental rules and regulations, and effectively apply them to all work situations
- Install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain protective relays, computers, metering, monitoring, and control systems on plant equipment. In shop location includes performing benchwork and component troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot, repair and/or replace pumps, seals, bearings, gas compressors, gas blowers, electronic/pneumatic valves
- Experience with shaft alignment of rotating equipment
- Read and interpret plant P&ID's and CWD's to locate, identify, troubleshoot, and repair plant systems, interlocks, etc.
- Use test equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters electronic bridges, loop calibrators) and hand tools (i.e., drills, screwdrivers) as necessary to troubleshoot and maintain devices and systems for the power plant
- Work with plant technicians, operators, and skill enhancement employees to teach proper, safe use of tools and maintenance procedures
- Complete all written and electronic records (i.e. work orders, calibration sheets, timecards, material requests) required to document the work in progress and as it is completed
- Continually update knowledge of plant systems and instrumentation
- Make decisions about how best to repair equipment and what resources (tools, time equipment) will be needed
Additional Responsibilities- On call rotation with lead operators
- Ability and willingness to operate GUS as needed
- Willingness to backfill all operational and leadership roles and responsibilities as needed
Technical Capabilities: - Knowledge of 0-10 V and 4-20 mA control signals, as well as 24 VDC through 480 VAC three-phase electrical systems
- Ability to use multimeter, loop calibrator, HART communicator, temperature calibrator, process calibrator, and insulation tester
- Advanced electrical troubleshooting
- Understanding of electrical schematics and P&IDs
- Basic understanding of industrial controls- VFD, PLC, HMI
- Calibration and troubleshooting of pressure/temperature/flow instrumentation
- Understand electrical control panel and machinery safety standards (UL 508A, NEC, NFPA)
Minimum Requirements:- Five (5) years industrial experience in I&E maintenance with strong mechanical abilities (required)
- Experience working within industrial process setting including RNG, Chemical or Treatment Facility, Mill, or Refinery
- Completion of an Instrumentation and Electrical Training Program or a Mechanical Maintenance Training Program (preferred)
- Valid drivers license
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:- Able to use basic handheld instruments
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Able to climb fixed and movable ladders up to 35 feet high
- Ability to use basic hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, electric drills, impact wrenches, shovels, brooms, etc.)
- Able to perform basic maintenance duties proficiently (replace/repair wear parts in machinery, adjust equipment, open/close tanks and heat exchangers, etc.)
- Comfortable working in confined spaces as needed (varies from daily to infrequently) and overhead work (reaching overhead and/or working on elevated equipment, etc.)
- Ability to repetitively lift/bend/kneel/walk/climb daily, depending on plant operation issues and work to be done
- Willingness to wear and appropriately use all required personal protective equipment (safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, respirators, fall protection, hard hats, etc.)
