Full Job Description
ERMCO is seeking an experienced Electrical Service Project Manager to lead customer-focused electrical service, maintenance, repair, and small-capital projects throughout our service territory. Unlike a traditional construction Project Manager who primarily works through General Contractors, this role serves as the primary point of contact for end-user customers, helping identify electrical needs, develop solutions, prepare estimates, and manage projects from concept through completion.
Projects typically range from $20,000 to $100,000, with occasional projects up to $1 million involving facility expansions, equipment upgrades, power distribution modifications, or complete electrical system overhauls.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building long-term customer relationships, solving complex electrical challenges, and delivering exceptional service while maintaining financial accountability and project profitability.
What You'll Do
Customer Relationship Management
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts.
• Meet directly with customers at their facilities to evaluate electrical systems, understand operational challenges, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop trusted advisor relationships by providing recommendations focused on safety, reliability, efficiency, and cost savings.
• Maintain exceptional responsiveness to customer needs, including timely communication and follow-through.
• Communicate proactively with customers regarding project status, schedules, budgets, and recommendations.
Project & Account Management
• Manage multiple service and maintenance projects simultaneously from estimating through closeout.
• Maintain financial responsibility for assigned projects, including budgets, profitability, forecasting, billing, and collections.
• Develop project plans, schedules, and resource requirements.
• Coordinate labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and internal resources to support project execution.
• Review project performance, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Track project costs and maintain accurate financial projections throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to customer expectations.
Estimating & Technical Consulting
• Perform site walks and customer assessments.
• Develop estimates and proposals for service, maintenance, repair, and electrical improvement projects.
• Utilize Accubid, preferably Accubid Anywhere, to prepare accurate estimates and pricing.
• Provide alternative solutions and value-engineering recommendations when appropriate.
• Assist customers in planning future electrical improvements and maintenance strategies.
Safety & Compliance
• Apply working knowledge of NFPA 70E requirements and electrical safety best practices.
• Utilize knowledge of NFPA 70B standards and electrical maintenance principles to help customers improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Ensure projects are executed in accordance with NEC requirements, company standards, and applicable regulations.
• Promote a strong safety culture among employees, subcontractors, and customers.
Required Qualifications
• Experience managing electrical construction, service, maintenance, or industrial electrical projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, and commercial or industrial electrical installations.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 70E and electrical safety requirements.
• Experience estimating electrical work and developing customer proposals.
• Strong financial management skills including budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and profitability tracking.
• Exceptional customer service and relationship-building abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Outstanding time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and customer requests simultaneously.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Accubid, particularly Accubid Anywhere.
• Knowledge and practical application of NFPA 70B standards.
• Background in electrical service work, maintenance programs, or industrial facility support.
• Experience managing direct-to-owner/end-user customer relationships.
• Journeyman, Master Electrician, or equivalent field experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Management, or related field.
What Makes This Role Different?
• Minimal General Contractor interaction.
• Direct relationships with facility owners and end users.
• Opportunity to serve as a trusted electrical advisor rather than simply managing a construction project.
• Diverse mix of service, maintenance, repair, upgrade, and small-capital project work.
• Ability to influence customer decisions by identifying safety improvements, reliability concerns, and cost-saving opportunities.
• High visibility with customers and significant impact on client retention and business growth.
