Electrical Project Engineer

Epstein is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join our growing MEP engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical engineering professional with 5-8 years of consulting engineering experience who enjoys leading design efforts, coordinating multidisciplinary projects, mentoring staff, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions across commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.

Overview

The Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for the planning, control, and integration of engineering activities and the development of project deliverables to ensure successful project delivery. This individual designs power, lighting, and fire alarm systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities within an integrated AE/AEC firm.

The Electrical Project Engineer applies creativity, foresight, and sound engineering judgment to anticipate and solve engineering problems, establish project objectives and design criteria, and develop coordinated solutions. This role works closely with engineers and designers, delegates design and drawing production responsibilities, coordinates with other disciplines, mentors staff and interacts with clients as part of the Epstein project team.

Key Responsibilities
• Gain a full understanding of project objectives, scope, deliverables, budget implications, and other factors that impact design activities
• Establish design criteria for specific projects
• Lead the design and detailing of electrical engineering systems
• Manage the development of construction/equipment installation documents and project deliverables
• Perform analysis and design calculations and delegate design and drawing activities to other project team members as appropriate
• Review and evaluate computer program and manual calculations for technical accuracy and compliance with established design criteria
• Coordinate with the project team and all design disciplines throughout the course of the project
• Perform field surveys and prepare associated reports
• Assist in preparing estimates of probable costs for construction and equipment installation at various stages of design
• Participate in the preparation of project specifications
• Perform periodic design reviews and ensure designs comply with specifications, codes, regulations, contract requirements, and Epstein technical and quality standards
• Review shop drawings for compliance with contract requirements and documents

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Electrical Engineering
• 5-8 years of successful project experience within an A/E, A/E/C, or consulting engineering firm
• Registered Professional Engineer
• Understanding of other building systems disciplines and coordination of the various elements of design between disciplines
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and general building codes
• Considerable experience working with teams, clients, contractors, and vendors
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Proficiency with Revit and working knowledge of discipline-specific software such as LightStanza

Compensation

Individual compensation is determined by several factors, including education, experience, training, qualifications, skill sets, licensure/certifications, and location. Employees are also eligible for discretionary annual bonuses based on both company and individual performance.

The salary range for this position is $90,000-$130,000 annually.
