Job Overview by Ladders

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience leading electrical engineering for data centers or heavy industrial builds.
  • Strong ability to review protection and coordination studies and identify errors.
  • Experience managing energization sequences with utilities and AHJs.
  • Balance speed and safety in field decision-making without compromising either.
  • Bonus: Professional Engineer (PE) license, with knowledge in MV and HV distribution, behind-the-meter generation, and utility interconnection.

Responsibilities

  • Own electrical engineering for the entire project portfolio, from utility interface to final rack.
  • Set and continuously improve the electrical reference design encompassing switchgear and UPS configuration.
  • Make and communicate electrical field decisions rapidly, ensuring energization readiness at each site.
  • Critically review consultant studies for short circuit, coordination, and arc flash considerations.

Benefits

  • Full autonomy in project ownership and execution.
  • Fast-paced work environment with a focus on delivering results swiftly.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI problems.
  • Collaborative atmosphere where the best ideas are prioritized regardless of source.
Full Job Description
How We Operate
  • Extreme ownership. Full autonomy. Own things end to end often taking on scope outside your core role without being asked to get things done.
  • Velocity. We drive everything forward as fast as possible.
  • First principles. Challenge every assumption. Zero analogy thinking, no egos, the best idea wins.
  • Love of the game. The frontier of AI is the most interesting problem of our time. We put in long hours at high intensity to push the frontier forward.

The Capacity Delivery Team

Examples of key problems the team is working on
  • Engineer gigawatts from drawing to energized, in months not years. Capacity Delivery owns technical execution across every build: the drawings, the field questions, and the engineering calls that keep multiple concurrent gigawatt sites moving.
  • Engineer data centers that go up in months, not years. At that pace rework is not an option: problems get caught on paper or they cost a data hall.
  • Design it once, build it a hundred times. Every site's lessons roll into the reference design on the way to 50GW+, so each build starts ahead of the last.

Role Scope
  • Own electrical engineering across the portfolio: distribution from utility interface to rack, reference design to energization.
  • Set and evolve the electrical reference design: switchgear lineups, UPS topology, and busway.
  • Make the field electrical calls at build speed and own energization readiness site by site.
  • Review consultant studies, short circuit, coordination, arc flash, critically rather than ceremonially.

What We're Looking For

The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
  • You've led electrical engineering for data center or heavy industrial builds.
  • You review protection and coordination studies and find the errors in them.
  • You've owned energization sequences with utilities and AHJs.
  • Your field decisions balance speed and safety without trading either away.
  • Bonus: PE license. MV and HV distribution. Behind-the-meter generation. Utility interconnection.

We are committed to pay equity and transparency.
