Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Estimator
Location: Houma, Louisiana - Corporate Office
Employment Type: Full-Time
QPS is seeking a motivated and experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Estimator to join our Automation & I&E team at our Houma, Louisiana office. This position plays a critical role in preparing accurate and competitive estimates for industrial electrical, instrumentation, and automation projects across the oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, and industrial sectors.
The ideal candidate will have technical knowledge of industrial electrical and instrumentation systems, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work closely with project managers, clients, vendors, and field personnel throughout the bidding process.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for industrial Electrical & Instrumentation projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, bid packages, and customer requirements.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for electrical, instrumentation, and control system installations.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  • Develop labor hour estimates based on project scope and field conditions.
  • Prepare complete bid proposals, pricing summaries, and clarifications.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations during estimate development.
  • Attend site visits, walkthroughs, and pre-bid meetings as required.
  • Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions, and opportunities.
  • Maintain estimating databases, labor productivity factors, and material pricing.
  • Assist with value engineering and alternate pricing options.
  • Support project handoff meetings after award to ensure a smooth transition into execution.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial Electrical & Instrumentation estimating, project management, or field supervision.
  • Understanding of industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, PLCs, control panels, motor control centers (MCCs), and process control equipment.
  • Ability to interpret:
    • P&IDs
    • Electrical one-line diagrams
    • Loop drawings
    • Instrument index sheets
    • Control schematics
    • Construction drawings
  • Experience estimating labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and construction schedules.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates while meeting deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally for site visits and customer meetings.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience estimating projects within the oil & gas, petrochemical, LNG, or industrial process industries.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical and instrumentation installation.
