Job OverviewThe Electrical Estimator along with the Senior Estimator, Lead Estimator and/or Estimating Manager, and/or the Vice President of Electrical Services, develops accurate, timely and detailed electrical and electronic system cost estimates on large, complex heavy civil projects with significant electrical and systems requirements for bid-build, design build, CM/GC, PPP and Engineer, Procure and Construct (EPC) projects. The Electrical Estimator supports delivery of properly organized estimates, budgets and schedules, including managing Skanska’s risk. The Estimator will be responsible for accurate quantity surveys, preparation of subcontractor and vendor work scopes, quote analysis, and estimating the cost of the electrical and systems work as if said work was being self-performed. The Electrical Estimator will be a self-starter and work efficiently. The Electrical Estimator must be able to meet critical deadlines and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Electrical Estimator Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree – Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or similar technical training/experience.
- 3 years prior relevant experience.
- Experience w/ Logistical Planning - Estimating, developing, approving, and communicating construction logistics plans (e.g. access, staging, traffic handling, third party coordination, work rules) that civil support requires for electrical and systems installation (e.g. concrete equipment pads, trenching for conduit and duct banks, etc) ensuring there is an appropriate transfer to the appropriate stakeholder.
- Working knowledge of Electrical Estimating/Engineering software: HCSS HeavyBid, AutoCAD, OnScreen Takeoff, or similar
- Practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
