Your future role on our team

The Studies & Field Testing team islooking for team members who enjoy technical challenges, hands-on problemsolving and delivering exceptional service in operating utility and industrialenvironments.

In this role, you will supportcommissioning, maintenance, testing and troubleshooting activities on a widevariety of protection and control, automation, and high-voltage apparatussystems. Working on transmission, distribution, generation and industrialfacilities across Ontario and Canada, you will gain exposure to critical powerinfrastructure while developing expertise in substation technologies and fieldexecution.

You will work closely with clients,engineers, technologists, electricians and operations personnel to safelyexecute field activities, solve technical problems and support reliable systemoperation. Whether performing relay testing, commissioning new equipment,troubleshooting protection systems or maintaining high-voltage apparatus, youwill play a key role in delivering high-quality technical services in bothbrownfield and greenfield environments.

With us you'll get the opportunity to:
  • Perform testing, maintenance and diagnostic activities on high-voltage apparatus including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, instrument transformers and associated substation equipment.
  • Perform commissioning, acceptance testing, maintenance and troubleshooting activities on protection and control systems in utility, industrial and generation facilities.
  • Execute relay testing, control circuit verification and functional testing of protection, automation and SCADA systems.
  • Conduct pre-operational verifications and commissioning activities in accordance with approved procedures, client requirements and safety standards.
  • Execute assigned commissioning, maintenance and testing activities while serving as the primary field resource for designated tasks and deliverables.
  • Analyze field data, identify deficiencies and troubleshoot equipment, wiring, communications and protection system issues.
  • Prepare and execute test programs while accurately documenting test results and field observations.
  • Monitor and coordinate site activities to support safe, efficient and high-quality project execution.
  • Develop and apply site-specific safety procedures, work practices and commissioning plans.
  • Prepare commissioning reports, maintenance records and other technical documentation.
  • Support business development activities through client engagement, preparation of service offers and identification of future opportunities.
  • Work closely with engineers, technologists, electricians, operators and client personnel to successfully deliver field services mandates.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of technical methods, testing procedures and field services practices.

Summary of certification and job requirements
  • Technical diploma or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, power systems or a related discipline.
  • Five or more years of experience in commissioning, testing, maintenance or troubleshooting of power system equipment.
  • Experience working with protection and control systems and high-voltage apparatus.
  • Experience executing work within operating utility, generation or industrial facilities.
  • Ability to interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams and protection and control documentation.
  • Experience preparing commissioning reports, maintenance records and technical documentation.
  • Strong commitment to safety and demonstrated experience working within energized and operational environments.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Available to travel to client locations and BBA offices across Canada.
  • Available for short- and long-term field assignments.
  • Asset: Experience supporting renewable energy and power generation facilities.
  • Asset: Experience with IEC 61850-based systems and modern digital substations.
  • Asset: Bilingual (English and French).
