Position Overview

As an Electrical Engineering Manager, Operations Engineering, you will support balance of plant operations across Invenergy’s wind, solar, and storage fleet while helping build and manage a growing engineering team. Initially, this role will include direct technical support for operating facilities while developing familiarity with Invenergy’s fleet, processes, and operating model. As the team grows, the role will shift toward greater focus on supervising engineers, setting priorities, reviewing technical decisions, supporting employee development, and driving fleet-wide process improvements.

Invenergy follows a hybrid schedule, working in office Monday through Thursday and remotely on Fridays.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and develop engineers to support the operating fleet. The focus for the team is MV/HV substation, collection, and transmission systems.

  • Supervise assigned engineers, including workload prioritization, performance feedback, coaching, and employee development.

  • Prioritize and assign engineering support across wind, solar, and battery storage facilities.

  • Initially provide direct technical support for complex site issues while developing team capability to support recurring operational needs.

  • Manage team support for operating facilities, including electrical troubleshooting and review of digital fault records, relay targets, and other operational data for planned and unplanned electrical events.

  • Review and guide technical decisions related to troubleshooting, maintenance recommendations, event response, and fleet-wide corrective actions.

  • Provide oversight and escalation support for electrical safety-related decisions.

  • Support substation and balance of plant electrical maintenance programs, including NERC-required and NETA-recommended testing and inspections.

  • Identify and lead process improvements, reliability initiatives, and high-impact projects across the operating fleet.

  • Support budgeting, resource planning, and long-term project planning for the operating fleet.

  • Support NERC compliance efforts, including audits, reporting, documentation, procedures, and policies for operating facilities.

  • Support project and construction teams during new project commissioning, turnover, and transition to operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering

  • 5+ years of engineering experience, with demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience

  • Strong knowledge of three-phase power systems, high voltage electrical equipment & relay protection

  • Ability to support occasional after-hours operational issues

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and project/work management skills

  • Some travel is required (< 20%)

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of NESC and ANSI/IEEE standards and codes

  • Knowledge of renewable generation systems (wind turbine, solar panels, battery storage) and their controls

  • Practical or field experience in electrical substation reliability and maintenance is a plus

  • Prior management experience is a plus

  • Experience supporting operating power generation facilities

Base Pay

$165,000.00 - $190,000.00 USD Annual
Bonus: 25% - 40%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
