The Electrical Engineering Manager interacts with the public, City staff, elected officials, and numerous government and private entities in the development, oversight, and completion of projects and strategies. This position supervises engineering staff, oversees technical contractors, and manages electric system design and inspection, mapping records, software, system automation, and cybersecurity requirements and implementations.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university with proficient knowledge of electrical system theory, design, maintenance, and operation. Knowledge of SCADA and fiberoptic communication, protective relay application and programming, the NEC, NESC, OSHA, ANSI/NETA, and other applicable electric industry standards with proficient use of AutoCAD, ESRI GIS, and Microsoft Office products.
Experience: A minimum of ten years working experience and knowledge of electric power systems, including transmission, distribution, and substation construction, maintenance, operation, and power system protection with a minimum of five years in an engineering supervisory capacity is required.
License & Certification: Valid vehicle operator license and satisfactory driving record in accordance with City policy. A Maryland Professional Engineer License is preferred.
