Main Duties & Responsibilities
Job Summary:
Research, plans, and designs electrical and electromechanical products andsystems, and
directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation,application, installation, and repair of
mechanical or electromechanical products and systems by performing thefollowing duties with a moderate
level of proficiency.
Job Duties and Responsibilities include thefollowing. Other duties may be assigned:
• Researches and analyzes data such as vendor design proposal, specifications,and manuals to determine
feasibility of design or application.
• Designs automation systems that utilize, controls, robots, VFD devices, PIDcontrolled devices and
mechanical, electrical, thermal, fluid power, or heat transfer systems.
• Designs, programs, maintains and troubleshoots PLC controls for industrialmanufacturing equipment.
• Designs, programs and maintains user interface for machines and systems.
• Designs systems that are compliant with all current environmental and safetyregulations, including
OSHA, NEC, NFPA and Arc Flash.
• Produces and maintains wiring diagrams and schematics in AutoCAD.
• Reviews new designs for production ability, considering cost, quality,safety, delivery, production
capabilities.
• Plans and directs engineering, maintenance, and production personnel infabrication of test control
apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testingproducts or systems.
• Directs and coordinates installation activities to ensure products andsystems conform to engineering
design, production and safety requirements.
• Coordinates operations, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimumutilization of machines
and equipment.
• Proposes design improvements for current equipment including upgrades forobsolete equipment and
recommendations for needed spare equipment.
• Evaluates field fabrications and installations and recommends designmodifications to eliminate
machine or system malfunctions.
• Supports plant production and maintenance with troubleshooting and repair of"down" equipment.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
This role is required to be on-site 5 days at theHuntsville, AL location.
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Three to five years of experience in programming PLC andother control devices used in material handling and other heavy
industrial manufacturing equipment.
Physical Requirements: This position requires themental ability to read and comprehend policies,
procedures, instructions, etc., to write reports, to use logic and data tosolve problems, to assess needs, to
communicate effectively, and varying degrees of independence, judgment, anddiscretion. This position
requires the physical ability to be mobile in an office and industrialenvironment, to be able to physically
access maintenance locations of various equipment. This could include elevatedplatforms, tight spaces,
and near or on equipment. This position also requires the physical ability tofinger and grasp materials, to
speak effectively, and to listen with intent.
